著者について

Charles G. Martignette was an art dealer and collector of original paintings by 20th century American illustrators and artists. His gallery in Hallandale Beach, Florida, housed the world's largest collection of commercial illustration art. As of 1975 he published numerous articles about magazine, advertising, calendar, pulp, paperback, glamour and pin-up art. Paintings from his collection have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution as well as many other American and European museums. Charles G. Martignette died in 2008 in Hallandale, Florida.

Louis K. Meisel, owner-manager of one of the oldest galleries in New York's Soho, has published several books and articles on contemporary art. In addition to art, he collects pin-up work.

写真ではわかりませんでしたが、ハードカバーでサイズも大きく、画集として満足のいく商品でした。
収録作品の数も多く、とても楽しめます。作品のレイアウトがあまりよくないのですが、そこは作品数で目をつぶりました。

Most of Gil Elvgren’s artwork is found in this collection, making it an absolute must-have for any fan of his art. The reproduction of his artwork is beautiful. In addition to his paintings there are some sketches and unfinished work, as well as photos used in his illustrations. There is also some biographical information and insight into Elvgren’s career. An excellent collection in one volume.

The book arrived earlier than expected from the UK and is in excellent condition. No stains or marks, folded or missing pages. Dust jacket is in excellent condition. Very happy with my purchase.

Du milieu des années 30 jusqu'à la fin des années 70, Gil Elvgren était sans aucun doute le plus grand dessinateur de pin-up du vingtième siècle. Il s'était distingué dans le monde entier en tant qu'illustrateur, notamment pour les campagnes publicitaires Coca-Cola... Ce magnifique ouvrage relié grand format regroupe une quantité considérable de ses peintures ainsi qu'un long récit sur l'histoire de sa vie. Le texte est rédigé en anglais et les traductions en allemand puis en français se trouvent à la fin du livre... Ce magnifique recueil s'adresse à tous les admirateurs de Gil Elvgren, mais surtout, à tous les amoureux et amoureuses de l'éternel féminin.
A s'offrir d'urgence avant qu'une commission janséniste ne nous l'interdise.
