This is very handy and i do get tired of saying alexa like google its ok i dont need to use it so much and i find older generations arent as bothered using this item. If you dont use technology i wouldnt bother getting this but if you need help with many things ask many questions this is good for them times.

Easy to use out of the box. I thought if nothing else it would be a good alarm clock but it is much more. Changing the clock face set up did not work on day 1. Today it works but the continuous scrolling that I turned off is still happening….maybe tomorrow! I can see the benefit of having more Echo units in different rooms. I like how it plays music and sounds good.

We were so happy with our first Echo 5 that we purchased another two. Now we we have the whole house covered by three Echo 5's and our original Dot. All 4 work great, voice recognition is excellent, we've trained them to call us by name... "Good morning Pete.... etc". They integrate seamlessly with our Laser Smart downlights, Tapo security camera's and Tapo power points.

Besides the Wi-Fi integration, we find the audio quality extremely good and play music on one, two, three or all four simultaneously. The intercom is very useful for calling room to room, and we are constantly asking Alexa questions about anything and everything, the knowledge pool Alexa has is truly amazing.

I would definitely recommend these products.

How is it possible for a Gen 2 unit of an appliance that relies on its sound to have such poor sound reproduction? And why does the blue version come with a white electric cord? The cord cheapens the overall appearance. The touch interface is not sufficiently sensitive requiring firm touch and the navigation functions require a road map. This unit was bought to act as an intercom between rooms, which it does, but overall my satisfaction with it is low. Fortunately it was bought on a special Amazon "welcome to Prime" promotion at around half price. Guess you get what you pay for. But I won't have any confidence to trade up based on the user experience of this product.

I bought this to replace an old Samsung phone I was using as a DIY smart clock. The phone worked ok but had some shortcomings with mic range and a few other quirks. The Echo Show has solved almost all of the issues I had.

Pros - great mic range, reasonable sound quality for a bedside clock radio, works with Grid Connect and Mirabella Genio lights and does everything Google Assist can do, and is better in some ways. Alexa responds to all voices without any special training for each person, and she may even respond faster than Google Assist. Good radio, does iview and ABC news video headlines, and Alexa goes away automatically and reverts to showing the clock after 60 secs or so. My wife is actually using it too to check weather and listen to Triple J radio, whereas she was reluctant to use voice commands with other devices in the past.

Cons - It took me a while to figure out how to get rid of all the scrolling news etc that happens each time you use it. Now it glows brighter and dimmer for a few minutes after each time you give it a command, but it does stop eventually.
No app for YouTube but it does have a web browser for that. However, it requires manually pushing buttons to get it to play at full screen. Not that you'd bother watching video on this small screen anyway.
Summary: Recommended if you want a smart clock radio that can turn lights on and off on command, as well as viewing camera feeds, checking news and weather, and numerous other things.
