I have been using nutritional yeast for over two decades. Used to buy it in the store and then switched to online. A few years back I became aware of the difference between fortified and non-fortified types of nutritional yeast and decided to stick with non-fortified. Tested several brands throughout my nutritional yeast path, starting with the famous KAL brand. About three years ago I settled on Sari Foods and bought it through Amazon and sometimes directly from the Sari Foods website. Something happen though in the last time that I tried to buy it. It was not available and I was forced to search for an alternative. I discovered this MicroIngredients brand. This product is also non-fortified nutritional yeast but the cost per pound is lower. The flavor and consistency are also great. These flakes are a little thicker and heavier than the Sari Foods flakes and I like them this way. In fact, price not considered, deciding on flavor and consistency alone, I prefer the MicroIngredients product over the Sari Foods product and the Sari Foods product was the best one I used until then. So things turned out for the better and I am now hooked on the MicroIngredients brand.

One of my vegan friends recommended trying this product so I sprinkled some on my ground beef chili and I really liked the taste. It’s kind of like Parmesan cheese, but yeastier and a bit less like milk, bacteria culture and rennet.

If you are vegan, it’s a great source of not dying from Vitamin B-12 deficiency. If you are a meat and cheese eater, don’t worry, you can still enjoy it without having to reexamine your life choices.

TASTY & GLUTEN FREE with No FOLIC ACID!!

Folic acid is something that about half the people in the United States can not tolerate!
There are some concerns in the reviews about synthetic vitamins, but synthetic vitamins (with the exception of folic acid) shouldn't harm most people.

But a large large percentage of people have genes for MTHFR. People with MTHFR cannot thrive as well when they get the the synthetic form of folate, which is “folic acid”. If you see folic acid listed anywhere on a food label, BEWARE if you are unsure about your MTHFR status!!!!

Gluten is another big issue with me!! This product has no gluten, and I am very grateful for that. ALL the vitamins and yeast flakes in the world won’t help me if I cannot absorb food well. Gluten can harm our ability to absorb food! So I am grateful to the micro ingredients group for allowing me to safely enjoy their product… which I think is VERY TASTY!
