Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Overall a great computer. It is also a good size for both work and travel. The keyboard is large enough to be comfortable to use and the total size is small enough to make it easy to travel with. The only issue is the speaker quality. Funny thing is I bought this mainly because of the top facing speaker, thinking the audio would be loud and clear, but in Zoom meetings it just doesn't provide good audio. So, I use a headset to get around the issue.
Within the first week of my purchase, this laptop overheated. I wasn't even using it! Even after I unplugged it, it kept getting hotter. I was afraid it would catch fire. It must have burned itself out because it could not be turned on ever again. No doubt many of the 714 laptops are great, and mine was just a lemon. But I did some online research and discovered a techie bulletin board in which several Acer Spin purchasers described similar experiences with overheating and resultant damage. Their theory is that Acer sometimes rushes assemblyline production when demand is high, compromising build quality on some laptops. Since I got my money back and other reviews are good, I might take a chance and order another 714. If that one is OK, I will update this review.
