I’ve only played with adults and all of us have seen Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window. The movie isn’t necessary for playing but the artwork are based on the movie. No movie stills, all original artwork.
Prospero Hall is currently my favorite game designer team. I was surprised by their other games, Jaws and Pan Am. And Legacy of Isla Nublar was worth it to me. The rulebooks (yes the rulebooks) are well done and are thematic.
This rulebook is modeled to look like a vintage Life magazine. It isn’t as thematic as the other games but is easy to follow and read. This rulebook will even explain to you how to prepare the game - how to organize the token tray that comes in the box - because it will make your life easier. Instructions for the Watcheds and the Director are straightforward and clearly delineated. Don’t gloss over the FAQ because it defines gourmand and virtuoso for this game.
Game is simple but is played differently by the Watchers and the Director. After the solution is prepared, the Director puts out clues (cards with people, items, or shadows/items) which represent the rooms of the apartment residents for the 4 different apartments. Then the Watchers make guesses on who they think live in the apartment AND what “attribute” they have, ie is the resident the animal lover or the virtuoso? This continues for 4 rounds. The game is won by all players if all 4 apartments are guessed correctly.
Unless, a murder has happened in which case the Watchers win if they figured out the murder and the Director loses. Or the Director gets away with murder (but the Watchers still need to guess some of the apartments correctly).
This game reminds me of another board game called Mysterium where the Director is instead a ghost of a person who has been murdered and is trying to communicate with the living to reveal the murder. Ie, the gates are pointy so maybe the weapon is pointy? Rear Window is less grim and morbid unless a murder happens, and the murder rate for this apartment complex is about 30%. My husband and I both like this game more - the clues are less wishy-washy and are more concrete.
I think kids could have fun playing this game if they like Clue. They might even be better at noticing clues because the pictures have small details.
I would recommend checking out this game if you are interested in a cooperative game of deduction with a dash of murder and a hint of betrayal.
In summary, Rear Window Board Game delivers an unparalleled gaming experience that brilliantly captures the essence of suspense and deduction. Prospero Hall has created a masterpiece that immerses players in a world of mystery and intrigue, making it an absolute must-have for any board game enthusiast. With its captivating gameplay, innovative mechanics, and the suspense of uncovering a potential murder, this game is a guaranteed hit for your next game night. Five stars all the way!
Note: although the box says 2-5 players, you can easily play with up to 7 or so. Two players can be the clue givers and there is no reason to limit the guessers to 4. It’s a co-op game (with a twist), so it just comes down to whether the group lets everyone participate. Whether there are 2 guessers or 6, if one (or two) players are alpha gamers and don’t let other people make meaningful contributions, it won’t be much fun for the other guessers. That’s a player problem more than a game problem.
Having said all that, the clue giver and some of the guessers need to be clever and have some experience with modern board games. If you enjoy coop games and Codenames Pictures this could be a good next step.

Los componentes son excelentes, viene con una bandeja para acomodar los tokens de personas y adjetivos. Calidad precio es excelente y el envío como siempre sin problemas.
The only minor downside is that this game doesn't come in cellophane wrapping but instead is sealed with four stickers. But if you're very careful, you can take these off without ripping the box.
Special mention for Amazon as well who delivered it in super quick time. And the driver was a nice chap too.
