One of the most talked things people were talking about when the game was released was how it relates to Batman Arkham Asylum. I guess that Spidey took some Batman lessons. Anyway there are 4 dimensions Amazing, 2099, Noir, and Ultimate. All of them have unique special abilities which are needed throughout their adventure. There are 10 level based missions(3 for each dimension. The last mission being the final boss battle.). Each of them having an overpowered villian to take down. Spider Man games before Shattered Dimensions(Excluding Friends Or Foe.)never were level based. They were free roam.
The game also has a few alternnate costumes which don't really power up Spider Man but Style him up, There are a lot of bonus content to unlock in the game like 3D Figures.
There's basiclly only two negative things I have to say about this game.
1. There should be more DLC content for the game. All they have at the PlayStation Store is The Cosmic Spider Man suits which is OK but they should give DLC like bonus missions.
2. Not to many people talk about this but one thing that Spider Man Shattered Dimensions should have from Batman Arkham Asylum is a hottie. Arkham had Harley Quinn which she looked great and all that Spidey has is a female version of Doctor Octopus.
Anyway the game is still really awesome and should at least be tried even if your not a Spidey fan, but if you are then go get this game!
Amazing is fighting Mysterio at a museum when they accidentally destroy the tablet of time and chaos, or something like that. The 4 spider-men have to retrieve the shards. Each level gets a bad guy that has a piece. 2099 and Noir get their own mini story with in the larger story but it isn't explain that well. Amazing and Ultimate get 3 simple get the bad guy kind of levels. The voice acting is excellent and easily makes up for Web of Shadows- which had some of the worst voice acting and casting I've ever seen in a game. Amazing and Noir get some hilarious one liners. You also get Stan Lee as a narrator.
Gameplay:
Each character gets their own unique fighting style and ability. Noir can heal himself but isn't much of a fighter and uses more on stealth tactics. 2099 is fast and agile. He can also freeze time. Ultimate can go berserk if the rage meter is full. Since his attacks are more about power, his combat feels sluggish at times. And Amazing feels like a perfect combination of the other 3. With the exception of the tutorial and final boss, each level has the same basic structure. You fight a bunch of goons before fighting the main villain in the level. Then the villain runs away, you fight more goons before confronting the villain one more time. The last time, the villain has harnessed the power of the tablet. There are some variation to this like in the first 2099 level; you start by fighting the green goblin. During the fight you will chase him down the streets avoiding any flying car or thing he trows at you. If you have played an action adventure game before, you should have no problem getting used to the combat. My only major problem is the wall crawling. It feels stiff and awkward. Some levels took me up to an hour to finish and each spider-man gets 3 levels so it is a good long game. The leveling up system is a bit different. You need to collect golden spiders and complete challenges in order to unlock new moves. The golden spiders can be looked at on youtube videos and the challenges were easy so it isn't as annoying as it might sound.
Presentation:
Each character gets their own unique world and art style. Noir is the blandest but the history nerd in me likes the old look of it. The 2099 world is shiny and colorful. Ultimate looks shiny but in a comic book or movie kind of way. Amazing is by far the most unique design I've seen in a long time. The way they animated things looks like a 2D cartoon but the style is very different from what I'm used to. My only major problem is the glitches. One of the things I forgot to mention in the Gameplay section is the first person mini game that occur during boss fights. The controls in these mini games are often unresponsive in certain levels. It is a cheap way to die but the issue is usually fixed by restarting from last checkpoint so don't get to upset when it happens. Normally I wouldn't care about trophies but in this game most of the them were easy until I came across a glitch that prevented me from getting the platinum trophy. If it wasn't for these glitches I would have given the game a perfect score.
Overall:
If you are a spidy fan big or small, I recommend the game.
