Simone Davies is the author of “The Montessori Toddler” and co-author of “The Montessori Baby” and “The Montessori Child” books, comprehensive guides to raising children in a Montessori way.

Simone is an AMI Montessori educator based in Amsterdam. She also has a popular blog, instagram and podcast “The Montessori Notebook” and is mother to two young adults.

Finding Montessori helped her so much when raising her own children (now young adults) and it’s now her passion to help other families introduce these ideas in their homes too. She was looking to find a way to be with her kids that wasn’t about bossing them about, threatening them and bribing them. Or giving them free rein either. And she wanted them to have a positive experience of school, not just to pass tests, but to love learning.

Simone currently runs parent-child Montessori classes in Amsterdam at her school Jacaranda Tree Montessori.

Fantastic Book, Terrible on Kindle Device

Fantastic Book, Terrible on Kindle Device
I am loving this book so far. Love these authors and how accessible they make Montessori to parents like me. This is the first time I’ve owned their book on Kindle instead of paperback. It’s fine in the app, but I like to read on my Kindle device and the gray text in this file is almost impossible to see. I’d love for gray text to be changed to black so this book would be usable on my preferred device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource!

So many great Montessori principles covered in this book! Our littles attend a Montessori school, but we want to make sure our home set up and interactions encourage those principles at home, too. This has everything from the philosophy background to applicable activities and practices to put it place today. It’s also beautifully written and illustrated in a sturdy, yet lightweight book!

5.0 out of 5 stars The book the world needs right now
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2024
So grateful this gorgeous, wonderful resource is out in the world. Simone Davies and Junnifa Izodike have created a very well researched and thoughtful guide to raising children who are capable, kind, creative — children who have a strong moral center and who can show up to the world and to society as a compassionate human. The Montessori Child is the book the world needs right now!
