These are expensive but in my personal experience so far all of my hue products have lasted a very long time.
Installing was a little tricky, but once you fiddle with the “wings” and get them adjusted correctly you’ll not have any issue with the rest, spent maybe 5 minutes “learning“ from the first one and then about 1 minute each on the rest.
I put up 8, and order them to the other hue canister bulb style, nice even light and glow, looks very clean, no gaps.
Expensive but I don’t expect to replace for years like my others.
I started the transition to smart lighting a few years ago using the Hue light strips to create cabinet accent lighting under lighting. Since then, I’ve been adding to my smart lighting by upgrading all my existing recessed lights with these.
So, why do I like Hue so much? First off, these lights are super simple to install. If you can change a lightbulb, you can install these lights. Second, all the various lights in the Hue system integrate seamlessly through the Hue app and Alexa. There’s nothing more frustrating that having a dozen different apps to control your smart home products. Finally, the ease of control and various color combinations are just plain fun to play with.
The Good:
--Rock solid Hue connectivity and quality.
--These things will fit almost anywhere.
--The appearance is quite nice and the diffuser is excellent! It looks and feels like a Kindle surface. The light quality is tremendous.
The Cromulent:
--I really don't like that these came with permanent splices. I know, "Why would you ever need to move them??" Well, given the cost and ease of install, I plan to take all of the smart home stuff if we ever move. There are several code-approved ways to connect wires. This is the worst. That's a personal preference, so I'm not going to take any stars off.
--The actual issue with the splices were the fact that they weren't super easy to work with due to the uh... creative wiring choices the previous owner and/or builder made with wiring the basement. The wires were significantly larger than even 12-gauge wiring. Had to buy a separate junction box to make the splices to the large-gauge wire. If you have normal light circuit wiring, no problem.
The Bad:
--The lip on the light is extremely narrow. Really bad design. You have to get the hole cut within like a quarter inch. Easy with a hole saw, but not so much if you have an existing hole preventing you from using a hole saw.
--The other issue that I think actually was enough to knock off a star was the included junction box. The door on it would NOT stay closed. Disappointed given the cost.

When I moved into this house, a few of the fixtures were LED panels and not bulbs, so it kind of threw me a curve at first.
The only difficult part of this installation was that my existing holes in the ceiling were only three or four inches wide, so I had to get past the fear of cutting into my ceiling to make a 6 inch hole :-)
Beyond that, it was a cinch, this light has a Nifty little connection box that is really as physically plug and play As It Gets.
I was surprised at the brightness, because these are a bit brighter than you would expect Lumen wise compared to their rating versus other Hue bulbs, but I sure ain't complaining.
These are the slim fit cans, so they don't require much space above the ceiling, but do make sure you make the hole clean so that it fits nicely without any unnecessary movement or visible gaps, because this thing has little brackets that grab on to the rim of the ceiling opening, like a drowning dude trying to climb to the top of a Alaskan fishing hole he's been thrown into because he witnessed a murder.
And the main thing is that you have the Philips Hue quality, it's worth spending a few extra bucks to have the thing that everybody else tries to copy. You'll be happy you did in the long run like any investment.
Oak Creek System broke up pooping Devastation and destruction.
I'm leaving that last sentence just because it's funny, that was Google listening to the TV and misinterpreting what it heard LOL.
