For wood repairs, their clear, glue "wets" the wood and works very well, it cures faster too. For places where a liquid glue will slump-off, use their stiffer "bar shaped epoxy", where a more liquid product will slump-away. Give J-B weld time to cure, read the instructions, follow them to success with your project.
In cleaning out my mother's house prior to selling it I came across a Kennedy tool box that I had bought my father years ago. It had been stored in an area that was damp and the bottom of the box was very rusty and pitted, there were even a couple of holes due to total rust through.
I had some thin sheet steel and cut a piece to fit the entire bottom of the box. I power wire brushed the box and the sheet steel, wiped both down with rubbing alcohol mixed up a goods amount of JB. Once I spread the JB on the bottom of the box, I laid the sheet steel on it and set the box on the floor with some weight on the top. Once cured it is now a serviceable toolbox that should give me years of use. I hadn't seen this large size package before and it was perfect for this job, I even have some left over. As long as you don't mix the two parts JB seems to have a pretty long shelf life. I have had smaller tubes around for quite a while and the product still preformed as new when measured out and mixed properly.
