Great product, HTC for life.
I ordered this brand new, my old one was broken during use but my other one was in fine condition, I recieved this only a few days ago but already notice an issue.
The trackpad button (not the trackpad itself but the actual click in) on the right barely works, the button registers but it seems like the spring mechanism that resets its position to be clicked again is broken so i have to press really hard down in it in order to get it to register.
I'm not incredibly picky about it as it still works and everything else about it is working fine as well but when ordering be sure to inspect and test properly to make sure all intended features work
Well, too bad!! Not only is their customer service continuing to give us the run around, but the replacement controller doesn't work either! The controller connects to the system, but doesn't track, so there's no way to play.
For such an expensive system, it sure is garbage. I can't believe I paid this much money for a controller that doesn't even work, and for a VR system that I can't play. I will never buy another HTC product again.
However, locomotion is nearly impossible to do on these controllers with any level of accuracy. Sometimes the trackpads will not register that you have lifted your thumb. Sometimes they don't register your thumb in the right place. The trackpad "button" mechanism seems to be very fragile, or maybe just a bit too easily overloaded in frantic gameplay.
There is a a kind of silver lining for these controllers though... If you replace a controller after the trackpads or buttons wear out, you can convert them to function like Vive Trackers for full body tracking. For this job the malfunctioning controllers are perfect, and get better battery life than the official Tracker pucks.
