I'm reading again! *If you can't get Windows 10 to recognize the kindle read this!*
***Windows 10 has a feature to disable USB interaction with devices it thinks are sleeping or are low power and charging** You have to go into Control Panel > Power Options and edit the profile of your PC go to Click CHange Plan Settings > Click advanced settings and click the + symbol next to the USB settings > look under the USB Selective Suspend settings and DISABLE that. Now reboot your computer. The next time you plug in your paperwhite, it will appear as a storage device and you can drag supported formats into the documents folder.***I was a pretty strong reader throughout my elementary and highschool careers.I read Jurassic Park Lost World for BOOK IT! when I was 12The pizza was good but the book was epic.Even difficult content isn't a problem when you love the subject matter.College eh, I got through classes (computer science) and that was about it.My focus, as with most 20-something year old boys, turned to social engagements.School, and girls (and beer and all that).I'm 36 years old and the last book I read and enjoyed was Altered Carbon which I bought back in 2005 maybe..I've read one book to completion since then and it was difficult to finish..Sorry for the history lesson on my life LOL....But the point is, I'm not a consume 1000 books a year type person.I have librarian friends who eat books for breakfast. Maybe I'll get there some day, but I'm picky.I need to like the flow of the book and the characters and the storyline of course!.I love tech, and I love taking baths. I thought for brain exercise, I should get an e-reader.Low and behold this one was waterproof so I could spend hours in the tub relaxing and reading..I'm new to the whole e-ink concept, and I knew this "tablet" wasn't going to be a quadcore hyper awesome performance beast. That's not its purpose. It doesn't even have an app store. PERFECT!NO DISTRACTIONS!Speaking of distractions I shelled out the extra $$ for the ad-free version. Who the heck wants ads!?.It's lightweight which at first felt cheap to me, but I've come to absolutely love how light it is. Holding a book up in the tub for hours, your arms get sore with a heavier tablet probably..I like the ability to go into dark mode when I read at night in bed..I have connected overdrive to my kindle so I can check books out of my local libraries; I've also connected my paperwhite to my PC to upload a supported MOBI file which worked perfectly.I like that if I'm in a bind I can always read on my Google Pixel 3 XL if I have to; it's good to have options..Reading exercises the mind and too many of us get sucked into reading trash on computer screens; that's not reading it's just brain garbage. Social media isn't reading lol.I love the matte finish of the reader and it just feels good to read again..A+ little reader, maybe a little pricey for what it is. I feel like it should be in the $75 price range(WITHOUT ADS) considering all it does is load books and some audio formats..Still; it's a pretty cool little device and I'm glad I bought it.1 star off for the high price1 star off the touch screen for sometimes being more laggy than its normal lag and sometimes misunderstanding which way I want to turn. Sometimes I'll want to go back a page to re-read dialogue and it'll go forward, and I'll click again and it still goes forward. Then I'll usually zoom out and jump to the page, but it's still strange when it happens. It's only happened once or twice but it's annoying. Hopefully my brain starts retaining things better and I don't have to try to flip back LOL.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY HAPPY WITH MY KINDLE 😊
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2019
Ok so this newest update to my kindle sucks. Theres one row of my books and the entire rest of the page is ads. So now when I open my kindle I have to click into my library to get to my books. How crapy is that! It's all ads now. You might as well not even buy a kindle and just buy a small tablet. It's all junked up with ads, not worth the money anymore.

Another update: I've had my kindle for awhile now and I'm still super happy with it. I was really worried about picking the right one since there are quite a few models but I'm very happy with this one. I dont know what the other models do that this one doesn't but it does everything I would want a kindle to do so again I would highly recommend this model.

UPDATE: so the battery life is only lasting about 2 or 3 days. I use it a lot though. Dont know if that helps anyone but yeah.

I've gotta say I wasn't 100 percent convinced I would like using a kindle but I started using mine tonight and I have really been enjoying it.

The backlight is great, the size is alright ( better than I would have suspected), pretty easy to use, comfortable to hold. The screen is good, easy to carry around with you.

Battery life seems good, this is my first one I've owned so I can't really compare it to a different model. BUT! I've used mine now every day for like 3 or 4 days now and it's at 19 percent.

Over all I would buy it again and I would recommend it. I dont see any reason to buy one of the more expensive kindles. Good price, good product. Good buy. I'm VERY happy with this one.
