Strawberry Graham Cracker Milkshake

Prep: 10min | Cook: 0min | Yield: 2-3 milkshakes

Ahead of time: Mix 1 Tbsp of Hoosier Hill Farm Whole Milk Powder with ¼ cup of warm water. Allow milk to cool in the fridge before using.

Step one: In a blender, combine milk, ice cream, fresh or frozen strawberries, and graham crackers.

Step two: Drizzle chocolate and strawberry pie filling in the bottom of your milkshake glass. Pour the milkshake mixture into your cup and top with whipped cream and toppings of your choice.

Ingredients:

¼ Cup of milk (1 Tbsp Hoosier Hill Farm Whole Milk Powder + ¼ cup of warm water -chill before use)
2 Cups of vanilla ice cream
1 cup of fresh strawberries -cut
1 package of graham crackers -snapped but not broken (the blender will do this work for you)
Toppings of choice (whipped cream, chocolate, strawberry topping)

Milk Mixing Instructions

To make 1 gallon: Mix 4 1/4 cups whole milk powder with 14 1/2 cups of water
To make 1 quart: Mix 1 cup + 2 Tbsp of whole milk powder with 3 1/2 cups + 2 Tbsp of water
To make 1 pint: Mix ½ cup + 1 Tbsp of whole milk powder with 1 ¾ cups + 1 Tbsp of water
To make 1 cup (8oz): Mix 1/4 cup whole milk powder with 7.5oz of water

*As this product is not an instant powder, to aid in mixing, use a whisk and warm water, then chill as needed.

You won't be fooled into thinking it's fresh milk (or even the cheapest milk you can buy at drug stores.) You would never want to drink a glass of this. If the review ended here it would be about 3 stars.

However, I must say it's pretty good when cooking things that need milk (yet don't focus heavily on the flavor of milk.) I used this to make homemade mac and cheese with cheese powder (same brand), flour, dry pasta and some dried herbs and it came out very well. When used in a culinary way it's a valid substitute for fresh milk with the added benefit of lasting a long time.

For those of you who read reviews, the 'Use By' date on mine is fine. This purchase and delivery was in the first week of March 2022 and the 'use by' date on my container is January 1, 2023. I purchased from Hoosiers Hill Farms and NOT a 3rd party. I have seen many reviews stated it was expired and just want to suggest people to watch who the seller is. I've seen a lot on the internet over the years when people purchase from questionable sellers instead of the manufacturer and, in many cases, how it affected them. If you have concerns, check written reviews, not just the ⭐ star ratings.
Back to my review;
Definitely use a mini whisk for this! It will leave powder globs if not well whisked. This powdered milk is very fine. It says to use warm water, but I was content with the results I had using room temperature water and used it immediately. That is, once I figured out how much powder to use, shame on company for not providing better directions.
Since I only use bovine milk for scrambled eggs, it is definitely not cost effective to buy regular milk because after a few days, I resort to dumping 3/4s of the bottle due to spoilage. It seemed wise to start using powdered milk, instead. I did the same for a few other things with a longer shelf life, such as powdered sour cream and buttermilk.
This milk seems fine once i figured out how to use an amount I like best. Too frustrating for something the company should have provided for customers from the start. Even the Hoosiers Hill Farms website was useless for help. It does have some intriguing recipes I might try, but the site is not helpful with directions. Sad and disappointed with this lack of simple customer service. SMH I only use a small amount and it should have appropriate directions, such as 'add 3 parts powder to xx amount water' for ease of use. It should not be this frustrating
