Right off the bat, even though these headphones are larger, I noticed that the headphones fit my bald head more snugly than my previous headphones, which would roll off my head if I bent over to pick something up or looked down. I don't treasure the fact that these headphones fold, but I'm glad that the folding feature doesn't have the same flaw that the e45bt had.
The manufacturer says in the questions on this page that the 700BT isn't designed for listening to video. I don't know what they're talking about. I have no problem watching videos. They are perfectly synced.
I'm surprised at some of the reviews that complain about the sound. I'm an OG audiophile. I was buying pre-amps and hundred-dollar headphones in the 1980s, when one hundred dollars meant something. The 700bt sound is so clean that I can hear faint noise riding individual effects on some guitar tracks in poorly "professionally" recorded songs. Of course, in recordings without those types of flaws, it's just pure sound.
As a musician, this is important to me. I don't want other people hearing hiss in my recordings, and if there is a little crackle or hiss riding a vocal track or the effects in a guitar track, I want to be able to hear it.
Some people complained that the headphones weren't loud enough. For them, I would suggest adjusting the volume on the headphones themselves. My Windows 10, or perhaps the Bluetooth version on my previous PC had a problem remotely controlling these headphones. That is fixed in my new PC, which is running Windows 11. Unfortunately, I didn't test Windows 10 with the new computer on these headphones before I upgraded.
If you have the same problem I had with my Windows 10 PC, it might be a flaw in Windows or BT itself, but on these, and my Anker Soundcore BT speaker, I have a hard time controlling volume from the main Windows volume slider. I can control it from the app itself if the app has a volume slider, but the Windows volume slider next to the clock on the taskbar most of the time has no effect. I just turned up the volume on the headphones to max, and it was too loud for me. Oddly enough, when I press the volume buttons on the headphones, Windows will show the volume going up and down. The Headphones Show the Windows volume and affect it, but the other way around is ignored by the headphones. I just turned down from 100% on the 700BT and saw as well as HEARD the volume go down to 57% on my screen. I then used my mouse to turn it back up to 90% and there was no change in sound. I clicked down once on the 700BT and the volume on my screen went down to 50%. Of course, the volume also changed. Again, I have this problem with my newer BT devices. I have an older DOSS Sound box that is 100% in symbiosis with the volume button all the time. Sounds great. I just don't use it because its jingle is so loud when I turn it on, and I can't stop it from powering off after silence for 5 minutes.
Noise-cancelling isn't crucial to me, but it works. I turned on my television and couldn't hear the newscaster over my favorite song. I thought I paused it and started writing this. Later, faintly, I could detect that I hadn't actually paused it. Sure, it bled through some, but I didn't know for a while.
These headphones shut off after a period of no signal. At first, I wasn't sure of that. I say I'm not certain because I didn't read the sea of folded multilingual folded papers. Even though the quick start guide is in English, it is loaded with that annoying non-literate symbolic explanation and examples that I find frustrating. I even checked for a regular PDF English manual online. Meh. I miss the old days when even a cell phone came with a 200-page detailed PDF and told you every possible fact about your device.
As Dr. Hammond would say, "Spared no expense." Speaking of all the exrtra-fancy printed packaging, boxing, and molded plastic, I appreciate it all, but I'd trade it all for a wired cord that isn't so short and obviously fragile. It's also dual-ended. One side is 4.4mm and the other 2.5mm mini. Fine to use, but you'll probably end up buying an adaptor to replace it. Sure, it's an extra they didn't have to include, but it's only 3-feet long, and the only device I would plug it into is four feet away, on the floor. I'd have to lean left at my desk to use it. I miss the 80s, when cords were cords, thicker, longer, coiled and braided.
Even if I used it on a portable device at the gym, 3 feet can be too short, forcing me to keep the device on my sweaty, bouncy person instead of on the treadmill. Any variation in slack and suddenly you pull the device to the floor.
My final verdict is that these are among the best headphones I've owned. Sure, I've owned marshmallow buds that sound better at the expense of not hearing anything else, period. Then there's the earwax apocalypse, and the constant adjusting. I give the sound an 8.5 toward anything I've tried before. For the price, that's great.
