I really didn't think these were going to work. I fix a grilled cheese sandwich, place it in the toaster bag, place it in a zip lock bag, it's ready for my lunch bag. All you need is a toaster. I use plant based cheese, it is not as crispy as if you made it in a skillet but it melts the cheese better. It's gooey, and so easy! So so good!!

Got to use at ABnB that only have a microwave and a traditional toaster to reheat food. I tested this first by making a grilled cheese sandwich (no butter or anything you don't need it) and it worked great. The bag wasn't too messy, so I did use it a second time. Then I tried heating pizza, chicken nuggets, and even french fries. Actually worked really well and crisp things up; however, they definitely go in the trash after. I did not even try washing them as they had small holes burnt in them. So three things: The cost. The environmental impact. And are the burnt parts affecting the food, adversely in any way? On the fence, but I would certainly use in an absolute pinch if I had no other option.

Were these originally an "As Seen On TV" item??? If so, they actually work! Grilled cheese sandwiches... no fuss, no muss, easy cleanup. Easy on the calories, too as there is no need for oil or butter to make your sandwich. Just slip your sandwich in the bag and pop in the toaster and slide out the sandwich when done... no sticking of cheese. You're also supposed to be able to put other things inside to toast... I guess if you can stuff it into a toaster, it's fair game (read the label); but I've only used it for cheese sandwiches.

Now the downside...
Some people may have a nice extra long slot toaster, but I don't. Some may even have those wonderful toasters that accommodate really thick bread. I don't. What I do have is your average, what I would call "cheapo" run of the mill plain old 2 banger toaster. This means that I have to fold/squish the side seams of the bag a bit as I pop it into the toaster. It also means the 2 slices of bread with cheese is just a tiny bit of a tight squeeze going into the toaster... which btw does get boatloads easier as the stiff bag softens up a bit with use.

The bags are made out of something akin to those oven liners, so melted cheese doesn't stick and cleanup is a matter of a quick soapy rinse. They're sturdy and last a long time... I've probably made at LEAST 15+ sandwiches in my first bag alone and I'm sure they'd last even longer in a toaster with extra long slots since squishing the side seams a bit going in, causes a little more contact with the heating elements, browning the bag in those spots.

So do I like it? Will I buy replacement bags? Yuppers on both counts! I'm a cheese-aholic and love my cheesy sandwiches without butter or (olive) oil... though I suppose you could brush a little on your bread before toasting; just not mine.

My boyfriend lives in Scotland and tells me about making "toasties" all the time. Basically, a toasted sandwich, like a grilled cheese or whatever, but inside a bag like this in the toaster. Madness!

Pros: takes about 60 seconds-2 mins to make a toasted sandwich
-no messy pan to clean up
-you dont need butter on the bread (unless u want it)

Cons: I have a Pioneer Woman toaster and I think the slots are a bit narrower than normal, so when I use these bags I have to smash the sandwich to make it fit. Also the bags should have rounded corners-the little square tips tend to burn.

Washing is easy-if your cheese melts or your mustard runs into the bag, after you slide your toasty out just rinse under the faucet. VOILA.

They are REUSABLE. I've probably made about 20 toasties since I got these and the bag is still in great condition.

My previous bags wore out after like three years of use. Over time, if these ones are anything like the others (which were admittedly of a different brand), they may develop scorch marks. Or start to break down from being put in the dishwasher or hand washed. To me, that is just fine. These totally pay for themselves in convenience.
