About the Author

Mike Holmes has drawn for the comics series Bravest Warriors and Adventure Time and is the creator of the art project Mikenesses. His books include Secret Coders (written by Gene Luen Yang), Animal Crackers: Circus Mayhem (written by Scott Christian Sava), and the True Story collection. He and his wife, Meredith, live in Philadelphia with their son, Oscar, Heidi the dog, and Ella the cat.
Tui T. Sutherland is the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Wings of Fire series, the Menagerie trilogy, and the Pet Trouble series, as well as a contributing author to the bestselling Spirit Animals and Seekers series (as part of the Erin Hunter team).     Tui T. Sutherland, also known as T. T. Sutherland (born July 31, 1978 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan-American children's book author who has also written under the pen name Heather Williams. She shares another pen name, Erin Hunter, with writers Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry when they collaborate with editor Victoria Holmes on the Seekers and Warriors series of novels.

    In 2009, she appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy!, becoming a two-day champion and winning a grand total of $46,200.

I nannied for this family and their son showed me this book series. He would always read it during our reading time together and even I would get into the story haha. eventually, when I nannied for another little boy I got this book for him. He wanted to be able to read, his younger sister had already started chapter books. However, because he was deaf he had a hard time understanding sounds even after getting hearing aids. But because these books are like comic books he was able to follow along with the story when I read to him or by himself somewhat. After some work in school, he was able to start reading the series himself and he really liked it. I was so happy to see him developing his reading skills. I think of that family all the time and I hope they are all thriving.

I rated this book moderate because it has pictures but some words are challenging for younger ages, 7or 8 (but if you are there with them that is a chance to learn a new word!)
