Hello America and all those other countries out there,

Get ready for one of the most terrific fantabulous super colossal best-ests DVD set you’ve ever seen. I was awestruck when I finally had a chance to watch everything in here. There is so much to this set it. Truly deserves the name Complete Series and the title Collector's Edition. Content alone make this worth buying.

I simply bought this with little expectation of extra anything. I mean for me and a lot of other people this is Gravity Falls one of the best animated shows that has ever appeared on TV. It's truly dear to my heart and I've been waiting for so long for a Complete Box set. I was not disappointed when I got this. I love this set Alex Hirsch and his crew of masterminds have outdone themselves.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Why should I even consider buying this DVD set you might ask?
What's so cool about this show anyways.
Well let's just see if I can give you a spoiler free review.

For anyone whose never seen this show I hope you will take the time to watch it. If you like mystery, adventure, science fiction, supernatural, fantasy turned on it’s head, heart, character driven story, family and well timed comedy then this is the show for you.

The series starts out with a simple setting twins Dipper and Mabel Pines are spending their summer in the woods with their Great Uncle Stanford or as he's mainly referred to Grunkle Stan. The setting is a little tourist trap called the Mystery Shack and the location is a little town in Oregon called Gravity Falls. In this town nothing is as it seems and everything can happen.

I'm not going into too much detail because that would reveal a bunch of spoilers and ruin the series for anyone who hasn't watched it yet. But seriously every episode has a mystery and all the stories connect. This is one of those rare few animated shows back in the day that had an ongoing plot and continuity with past episodes. It's so much fun to see how everything connects. While you watch the show you'll spot many mysterious things and many of those are intentional clues for future stories. Not to mention there's a bunch of codes and ciphers that also appear in the show. Seriously it's a clever smart show that's not afraid to push boundaries and bend tropes. It's a really fun adventure.

The thing that makes it so enjoyable is family focus, the relationships built between the characters, and the unbreakable bond between the Pines Siblings. Just those special everyday challenges they face mixed with supernatural to make an incredible adventure out of an ordinary experience.

The characters are all relatable and fun to see. Mabel is the most optimistic, bouncy and sweetest gal you could meet. Dipper is a clever, smart, awkward boy whose in those beginning phases of becoming a teen. Grunkle Stan appears like a money grabbing con artist, but actually has a real soft side to him. Soos is the adorable man child, and Wendy is the cool laid back teenager. The rest of the characters are great as a well. The whole main cast is rounded out and has their struggles, conflicts and deep moments. Making them all a lot of fun. Even recurring and minor characters you can tell the writers put a lot of effort into the story.

Visually the art of this story is impeccable. All the characters have a special design to them that makes them stand out they've really put so much effort into making everything look great. The backgrounds are beautiful works of art seriously for a kid's show they are really fine and detailed. When you look at them carefully you can find all kinds of hidden easter eggs related to the story and characters along with clever hidden gags. Overall the entire show has a rich, well done animation that stands out with it's own significant flair and gives you a backwoods Oregon feeling. Not to mention the colors themselves are superb. This was definitely one of the things that drew me into the show it's visually pleasing to watch everything.

This show sports a great casts of characters, particularly with Jason Ritter as Dipper, Kristen Schaal as Mabel and Alex Hirsch as Grunkle Stan, Soos, Bill Cipher and many other characters throughout the series. There's also a lot more stand out performances as well. The voice actors are really on point and make it a lot of fun to watch. Another highlight is the soundtrack and music for the entire show, which is a absolute delight to hear. It has a very unique sound to it and from the beginning opening it gives you a real treat to listen to. So much of the soundtrack ties into the story line, characters and emotions it's just wonderful.

The bottom line is this is a terrific series that isn't your every day adventure show. It's unique, funny, clever and refreshing. I truly recommend it to anyone who has yet to attempt to watch it. It's fun for all ages. Take a chance you won't be sorry.

Now we're getting into the real content review of this DVD set?
It get's serious from here.

This is the Complete Series box set meaning it of course contains every episode in the series.

The DVD set is divided into 7 discs. With 3 for Season 1 and 3 for the 2nd Season, and 1 disc for the Special Features. There are 40 episodes over the two seasons to be exact. With the last episode actually being two episodes in one, but it's still technically one episode.

The thing that makes these discs stand out is its not only the episodes, but there is a commentary for each episode. I'm not joking each episode has a commentary. I've rarely if ever, seen some one make a commentary for every episode in a television series let alone a children's series. I've always dreamed of this and it's never become a reality until Alex Hirsch and his team pushed past the norm. Each episode has a commentary and they are loads of fun to listen to. Alex Hirsch appears in every commentary along with various people guest starring including Dipper and Mabel's voice actors Jason and Kristen, storyboard artists, writers, other voice actors, they even have Alex's sister Ariel appears in one episode commentary! Each of the commentaries are really well done and fascinating to hear even more about this beloved series.

Just make sure you don't watch the commentaries before you've finished the series cause there are major spoilers packed within. This was a huge highlight for me though. I'm so happy they made these for the box set.

But wait there is more?
That's right ladies and gents there is more.

You might remember I mentioned special features. There is an entire disc dedicated to them.

"One Crazy Summer" which contains episodes simply dedicated to the cast and crew talking about their time on the show. Discussing how the show was made from start to finish and everything that went into making it. And it's not just a few people here and there. Most, if not all involved in the creation of Gravity Falls have a chance to talk about the origins, the characters, the design, the plot, the music, and just basically what it took to make the series what it is today. Really worth watching it just shows how much everyone loved creating this series and how much care and affection that went into making it.

"The Hirsch Twins" has the original twins Alex and Ariel discussing their own childhood which is the basis for much of the story and how it relates to various things done in the story. It's really cute and adorable seeing them talking about it and reliving memories of their past. For any fan it's a delight to watch.

"Between the Pines" is an special that was shown on Disney XD that talks in smaller detail on the Gravity Falls story. It's not as a long as One Crazy Summer but it does contain various things about the show, and it's creation which makes it fun. I've watched it quite a few times over the years and it's never boring.

"Deleted Scenes" is a pretty cool. It shows various scenes that never made it into the show, but were storyboarded and acted out by Alex and company while they were creating the show. It's fun to see what could have been and some of the clever things that might have been present.

"Shorts" contains basically every Gravity Falls short that appeared on TV during the in-between Season 1 before Season 2 premiered all of them are short little clips and quite fun. There's Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained, Mabel's Guide to Life, Fixin' It with Soos, TV shorts, and Mabel's scrapbook. I was happy they included this because it wouldn't the show without these little segments.

"Promos" are even shorter clips mainly little commercial that appeared throughout the course of the series. There's all kind of interesting ones from actual puppets to cardboard cutouts and it's plenty of fun. There's "Old Man" McGucket's Conspiracy Corner!, Creepy Letters from Lil' Gideon, Soos' Stan Fiction, 'Pocalypse Preppin', Mystery Shack: Shop at Home with Mr. Mystery, Grunkle Stant's Lost Mystery Shack Interviews, Gravity Paws, Journal 3 Infomercial, and Season 2 San Diego Comic Con Trailer.

Needless to say there are hours of entertainment just here in the special features. One down side is (at least on the DVD not sure on the BluRay release) you don't get the Original Pilot for the Show, and it's missing the first trailer "Creature in the Closet" that appeared before the show ever premiered. I was hoping for both these to be included, but I'm not complaining there's already so much here.

They really went whole hog on the special features!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Final thoughts. If you haven't seen this series yet, watch it! If you haven't bought this yet, then buy it. You will not be disappointed with this DVD set. It's totally an amazing, shinning, shimmering, splendid set. I went in for this Box Set simply because it's one of the best series I've ever watched and came out with so many special features.

I'm completely satisfied with this entire set. I love Gravity Falls: The Complete Series Collector's Edition!

Thank you Shout Factory, Disney, Alex Hirsch and the rest of the rad Gravity Falls crew for making this something to treasure!

Gravity Falls is one of those cartoons that comes once in a life time, once in a generation dare I say. It’s everything you’d want from a cartoon. Great, relatable and lovable characters, smooth and breathtaking animation, a story that keeps you wanting to watch it and a team of people behind it that were dedicated to see it play out from beginning to end.
For a show like GF, it was pretty surprising that it didn’t have a full series box set over 2 years after it had ended. Other shows do. But unlike some shows, there was a demand for one. Fans wanted one. But Disney wouldn’t budge no matter how much Alex Hirsch and the fans begged. Letter after letter sent to their offices, email after email by Hirsch but still the same answer. NO. It looked like we would never get one.
So, imagine my surprise when I heard that Shout Factory would be releasing the whole show on DVD and Blu-Ray in one big 7-disc box set. I was through the roof. A box set with all 40 episodes with commentary on each of them, all 17 shorts, the other promos and behind the scenes stuff and new content from never before seen deleted scenes, Easter Eggs and a documentary looking back on the show with the cast and crew.
Any Gravity Falls fan or cartoon fan or even just a DVD or Blu-Ray collector for that matter will certainly love adding this box set to their collection. It gives this incredible show the send off that it deserves. With Alex Hirsch now moving on to other things and the GF team as well, the show is in what is safe to say its final days in terms of new content. The fact this came out the same day as the graphic novel Lost Legends did give us one last adventure with Dipper, Mabel, Stan and the whole gang, and a chance to venture back, whether it be for nostalgia or just to relive the summer once more.
Shout Factory has out done its self with this box set. Just from how it looks visually will tell you that you’re in for one amazing journey. And keep a close eye when you take the disc cases out of the box. There is one little surprise in there waiting for you. One that goes perfectly with having the chance to hold the whole summer in your hands, and journey back into the world of this one in a million, and incredible show that I personally, will never forget.
