Editorial Reviews

He may be the least well known of his namesakes b.B. And albert, but freddy s influence on british blues and those involved in the resurrection of the blues in the 60s cannot be over emphasised. Texas born king moved to chicago and developed his peerless style and technique which resulted in the classic cuts on king records showcased on this 2lp gatefold 180g vinyl set.

Freddie King was a great blues guitarist. But he was more than that. He was a great and innovative jazz guitarist as well, disguised as a blues player. Although the audio quality of these recordings are so-so (good for the time, not quite up to modern standards) they really show off his interest in what a guitar could do.

At the same time, they are just really, really catchy tunes!

What can one say, its FREDDIE KING! This is an all instrumental album, no singing, and pretty much what Eric Clapton used to learn to play the blues, as well as Jimmy Page and others. Many of these tunes you will recognize because many others like Stevie Ray Vaughan did covers of these tunes. This is Freddie with his Les Paul gold top with P90's, I bought the album because I am a pickup designer and needed good reference recordings to hear what they sounded like back in those days in the original guitars. Freddie is probably playing thru some Fender tweed type amp, with the thick strings of the time and the amp not cranked very much. This kind of playing is what sets the wanna-be players from professionals who don't need tricks and distortion to play and get good tone out of just a guitar and a simple amp. Freddie's style never changed but by the time the 70's came around he was singing like the iconic bluesman he always was and playing through loud cranked amps with his Gibson 335 type guitar and doing some really screaming solos, but making every note count. Get it.

Good introduction to the great Freddie King. Also, has some early work for those already aware of him.

This is the best blues instrumental guitar album ever. Boy there are some killer licks to listen to on this one. I promise that any blues fan would love to have this album in their collection guaranteeed!!!!!!!!! When I put this cd in to listen to it I couldnt believe how many great artists Freddie King has influenced. Eric Clapton has copied songs off this Paul Butterfield blues band has copied also Stevie Ray Vaughn has too. This album has killer inspiration to me buy this if you like electric guitar blues boy you will boogie woogie.

Solid collection of the best blues instrumentals by the absolute master. There is not a bad track here. It's 12 songs and just under 35 minutes. I can listen to it over and over though. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Masterful blues guitar playing! I wanted to learn the blues lick "language" to incorporate into my own guitar playing. This CD was recommended by my teacher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never heard of Freddy King..

...until I saw a band in Fuengirola while on holiday play some of his numbers.
The local band are called Mita i Mita (Half and Half) and we were very impressed
to hear these marvellous instrumentals such as Hide Away. Bought the bands cd
which led me to the credits by Freddy and thought I'd look him up. Found this album,
which is great to hear over and over. He was a master of catchy tunes and brilliant
at suprise riffs which take the tune to another place and back again. Very entertaining.
Suddenly, to me anyway, Clapton is no longer the greatest - but a watered down copy of
one of the best blues guitar players ever...Freddy King!

全曲インストからなるフレディ・キングの最高傑作!
HIDE AWAY SEN-SA-SHUN SAN-HO-ZAY
