WHY IS HEART RATE TRAINING THE SMART WAY TO WORKOUT?
Using real-time heart rate data during your workouts means you have instant insight into how your body is responding. This means you'll be training smarter, which is always better than simply training harder.
In a nutshell, smart training that leads to results is based on three variables:
- Frequency: How many times you exercise during a period of time, for example per week.
- Duration: How long you exercise at a time, usually counted in minutes.
- Intensity: This one is a bit more complicated - and that's where your heart rate comes in.
Your heart rate is one of the best indicators of how hard your body is working during training. Instead of trying to "guestimate" the intensity of your workout, your best bet is to rely on your heart rate which is a trackable number, just like frequency and duration.

It pairs well with apps that use an optical HRM (such as Visible and Heart Graph) but not those that require an electrode based HRM (such as Elite HRV or Sweet Beat). The Polar app didn’t meet my needs, I knew that before I bought this.
It was easy to set up and use. I do like that it is rechargeable, unlike the Polar H10, which uses disposable batteries. My only complaint is that the battery has to be charged daily, unlike the H10 which only requires a new battery about once a month with near 24-hour per day use.
Overall, highly recommended!
way more responsive and accurate than wrist-based heart rate monitors, especially important for serious athletes that closely track calorie burn.
Much more comfortable than a chest strap heart rate monitor.
Easy setup with garmin, smooth integration.
Cons - can't think of any.
Within 2 weeks of opening and using this product, I discovered that this unit consistently failed to track my HR while in the water (not in swimming mode, which uses an accelerometer). I contacted Polar to get help. They responded a month later. Not only did the assistance I received not work, but after resetting the unit per their advice, I couldn't connect it to the app anymore. I sent it in for evaluation, and about a week later, they sent it back to me with zero communication or further help. It still wouldn't even connect to the app and is now beyond useless. Now, they tell me there's nothing they can do because this is beyond the timeframe of their return policy.
This is neither the product quality nor the customer service I have experienced and expect from a company like Polar.
Don't buy this. Take your money elsewhere to a product that will do the job it says it will do and to a company that respects its customers.
