Developed to keep pace with evolving paint and clear coat technologies, the Perfect-it Paint Finishing System is ideal for when the finest finish is required for every level of clear coat and paint repair. This system uses a progressive series of finer abrasives, compounding and polishing pads and specially formulated polishes to produce showroom grade finishes with deep color and rich gloss, in the shortest amount of time.

3M recommends using Perfect-It Machine Polish with Perfect-It Quick Connect Foam Polishing Pads PN05707 or PN33285. For difficult dark-colored cars, 3M recommends the 3M Perfect-It EX Ultrafine Machine Polish PN 06068 to completely eliminate the finest swirls and restore the OEM look without the use of wax.

Product Description

3M Perfect-It Machine polish is formulated for creating a high polished finish on paint, fiberglass and gelcoat – ideal for cars, trucks, RVs, boats and other watercraft. This high-performance, fast-cutting boat polish quickly removes small scratches and swirls left over from rubbing compound. Recommended for use on rotary polishers, it is formulated to stay wet a long time so you don’t need to reapply it as often, yet it holds on the polishing pad to cut down on sling and mess. The polish is part of a complete range of surface enhancement products and systems drawn from decades of 3M mineral and chemical technology. They include 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, 3M Perfect-It Ultrafine Machine Polish and 3M Perfect-It compounding pads. For best results, use with 3M Perfect-It Foam Compounding Pad 05706, 3M Perfect-It Wool Compounding Pad 05753, or 3M Perfect-It Low Linting Wool Pad PN33279.

The buffing compound gets professional results with minimum effort. Too bad it wasn’t delivered to my porch like other items I’ve ordered in the past. This will probably pull 800 grade scratches out with an extra pass or 2. I found 1500 to be no problem. I also found for touch up or maintenance application 900-1200 rpm to be fine and very controllable and forgiving. For harder situations you will need 1200-2000 rpm just like it recommends and it will pull everything out very well. Swirl marks GONE !!! in just 2 passes , very easy. You could stop with this step and just wax or stand alone. Worth every penny and it is THE BEST I've ever used. I've done several side by side comparisons with 5 different top brands on 3000-1500 and 800 scratches made by 3m trizac on a 6" DA. Its amazing and very clear what each brand does, and the effort required to finally clear them up. I found 2 brands just always leave a haze or a big scratch still there or made by the product itself durning clean up. Others also gum your nice expensive pads quickly too,ruining consistency, 3M does not. Side by side comparison with the BMW black - Volvo S60 black on a dealer parking lot is really unfair to the factory finish. I couldn't believe the depth it brings out in these dark colors. Even with just this step before I went to the ultra fine was clearly more gloss and darker color. I won't use anything else. Careful of some other brands glazes or hiding imperfections, only to be washed away and show up again after a wash. This removes them.

Hello i worked in a body shop for 10 years and we always used 3M compound and polish i color sand and buffed over 5,000 in a ten year period that’s buffing cars an average of 14-17 a week and we had 4 detailers that did the same per week also. I used several other materials along the way nothing can perform like 3M products and the cost maybe a little bit more but it’s worth it!
