Does anything inspire holiday feelings more than the smell of fresh baking cookies?

Does anything inspire holiday feelings more than the smell of fresh baking cookies?
Does anything inspire holiday feelings more than the smell of fresh baking cookies? The Gingerbread House is a classic retelling of the Gingerbread Man fairy tale, with a holiday twist. The twist is that you can catch this cookie by building him a house, and maybe a car.Gingerbread building is a favorite tradition with my son, even into his teens. He would have loved this book when he was younger. I can just imagine him insisting on reading it before we started our creations. The rhyming text is great for those little ones that want to hear the story "Just one more time." The multi-media art is simple and iconic, the perfect way to start off the holiday season. I foresee this book becoming a tradition of its own in many homes.

Its Christmas time, & time t bake lots of goodies to eat.
The 6 gingerbread men have come life.
Their eyes are made of raisins.
They start to dance.
The gingerbread house was made of candy & icing with gumdrops.
Will you make the gingerbread men & gingerbread house next Christmas?

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) gingerbread storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s gingerbread movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

This is a cute book with some wonderful, vibrant illustrations. I think the little ones ages 4 and up would enjoy the rhyming and the antics that the gingerbread man comes up with.

I do like the houses, train etc that are shown, they are cute and I would like to try my hand at one some day.

The only thing I don't like is the message that maybe "the gingerbread man would stay around if you just built the right house". The younger kids might think that this could really be true? That's my only problem with the book.

I can recommend this for a fun, original and brightly illustrated Christmas book for children ages 4 and up.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

I read this book to my kids and it wasn’t interesting at all. There was not a clear storyline and we were confused.

This book is really hard for me to rate. There are parts of it that I genuinely love. And then there are parts of it that I really don't. I feel like the timing of the rhyming (😂) is off. I could feel the author searching for words and choosing to use words that didn't fit very well because they rhymed. Rhyming books I will say are some of the hardest to write for that very reason. There's a reason Dr Seuss made things up lol The pictures are gorgeous, and the general idea is also lovely. I just felt like technically speaking it could use some love. I also didn't like the fact that the writing would switch perspectives randomly. Overall I do think it's a really cute Christmas book for kids. Kids are not as judgmental as I am lol

In 1875 The Gingerbread Man folk tale was first told, since then the story has been passed down from generation to generation. The Gingerbread House is like an up-to-date sequel to that tale, perfect for children today.

So how do you catch the Gingerbread Man? With a Gingerbread House, maybe!

In this rhyming and beautifully illustrated young children’s picture book, we follow the Gingerbread Man as he lets us know what will keep him from running away. He wants a house to live in but it must have sweets, oh and maybe a car too.

The plot is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it, I’m confident little children will love it too. It certainly brought the Gingerbread Man into the twenty-first century with his moonwalking and hop-hop dancing.

I can see this being a book wanted over and over again at bedtime. Ms. West has done a fabulous job carrying on the years-old tale and if you love the original I suggest you give this one a read too.

This story just wasn't right for me. The cover is absolutely stunning and wish that this style of illustration was carried through the entire book. Some illustrations feel as if they are rushed or unfinished. While there was cute parts of the story, the storyline didn't seem to flow as well as I would hope for a childrens book and there were some parts I had to explain to my kids as they were confused.

Thank you netgalley for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
