The fateful message sets him on the course to stop an environmental crime! His uncle’s company plans to cut down some of the oldest California redwood trees, and it’s up to Julian and a ragtag group of friends to figure out a way to stop them.

This thrilling, thoughtful debut novel shows the power of determined individuals, no matter what their age, to stand up to wrongdoing.

Great story. Perfect for 5th grade.

Terrific book about saving the redwoods which can be stretched to many kinds of saving trees. I am 78, and even though it is written for the 10+year olds, I loved it. It keeps you reading, for the next happening. I have given it to my granddaughter.

saving the last stand becomes a lifesaving event for the hero of this story...and a bridge home. The heor's mom is a non-traditional mom and not much is made of that. his grandmother a reporter..I like that cause I was one too. His homelife, not so cool. Friends, diverse. There is MUCH to like about all the varying threads to the storyline..to say nothing about saving those trees.

This item was a gift for my 9-year-old son. He is in 3rd grade, reading at a 4th grade reading level and I was looking to expand his reading library past the old books he has grown out of. This item seems to fit our needs perfectly! I think that it will hold his interest when he starts reading it!

Great book about one child's fight for what is right. The one become many working together to support each other and protect nature. Fun read aloud or book club with students.

Operation Redwood is a great kids adventure-- all about rebellion and standing up for what is right. It is also interwoven with some serious issues around logging and forest conservation. This grounding in the reality of the battle between corporate greed and the preservation of nature, and its fairly accurate portrayal of how this battle has played out in Northern California makes Operation Redwood not only a fun read for kids, but also helps teach some important lessons about what's happening in the world around us.
