Performs much better than I expected!

Performs much better than I expected!
The super-short version of this review is that this unit has really exceeded my expectations!I must have internet connectivity for my job, and (rarely) receive automated calls if certain database processes fail. I **have to** be connected. In just over 2 weeks this unit has allowed us to travel to areas we otherwise would not have been able to.First test: At an RV park in a valley in rural Vermont I had “no signal” and 1 bar flipping back and forth. The OpenSignal app said I had 4.5Mbps download and an Error for upload. I plugged in the booster and went to 16 and 6.5 respectively.Second test: We were boondocking at a farm in NH. With the booster unplugged I could not send or receive text messages. Plugged in... I was able to send a text message with a photo I had just taken of the farm.Third test: At a campground in Maine we got “no service”, and paid for a wi-if upgrade so I could work. However... I discovered that the cell data with the weBoost on was better than the “upgraded WiFi” I had paid for!OK... now for the reality check...In all of these cases, I have to assume that I would have gotten **some** signal if I stood on the RV where the antenna is located. As they clearly state... if there is NO signal they can’t give you one.How close your device needs to be to the antenna (a common complaint in the Amazon reviews) varies. My iPhone 8 does seem to need to be within a foot or so of the internal antenna, but my cell-data enabled iPad (which I am writing this review on, using the weBoost signal) is 3 feet away.I would guess that my internal antenna is about 15 feet from the outside antenna. In my small Class B that is about the best I can do.Finally, my only “complaint”. I **hate** the roof mount. On the roof rail of my Travato the mount falls over no matter how tight I make the U-bolts. Also, there is NO mechanism for folding the antenna down when needed. The whole idea is to get the antenna higher than the other items on the roof... which in our case knocked down the passable height by 18”. I solved this by buying their marine mount, which does allow for folding the antenna down. It required some extra plumbing fittings to make it work (see my photo), but now we generally drive around with the antenna folded down, and put it up when we are stopped and need service or I am checking work. WeBoost really should offer some alternative mounting systems that don’t require a trip to the hardware store to make functional.I would definitely recommend this, and feel it is worth the money spent.
