About this item
- FLAVOR: You might call our flavor “teriyaki-ish”. It’s salty and sweet, packed with umami. In Japan, our sauce is based on what is called a “tare” which is used to glaze grilled chicken, beef, or seafood, as well as a dipping sauce for many dishes. It’s great as a sauce of marinade on meat, veggies, rice, and anything in-between!
- INGREDIENTS: Non-GMO Soy Sauce (Water, Soybeans, Wheat, Salt), Cane Sugar, Mirin (Water, Rice, Koji Seed, Sea Salt), Tomato Paste, Organic Ginger, Green Onion, Organic Rice Vinegar, Organic Garlic, Sea Salt, Organic Toasted Sesame Oil. Contains Wheat, Soy.
- COLD-FILLED: To stay true to the original recipe, we cold-fill our sauce—which eliminates any need for additives, preservatives, or flavorings. Our crave-worthy flavor comes naturally from delicious, clean ingredients.
- SMALL BATCH: Every time we make Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce it is produced in small batches, so that you only get the freshest of the fresh! Every batch is tasted at the kettle and approved by the Bachan’s Fam before it goes out.
- PRESERVATIVE-FREE: We formulated our sauce to be shelf stable without the use of preservatives. We also don’t add any water to our sauce.

With just basic groceries being so expensive lately, I doubt I'll buy any more soon.
But it's so tasty on stir fry with rice and makes it taste more like hibachi.
I warmed up leftover restaurant brisket in a skillet and tossed a little of this on it at the end and let it caramelize, and it was outrageously good. My daughter kept trying to swipe it when I wasn't looking.
It's amazing on mushrooms and just boosts flavor wherever you squirt it. Our preschoolers love it on chicken strips.
The flavor is hard to describe. It's savory and salty like the sauce that comes with Chinese dumplings, but not quite that. And there are notes of barbeque sauce, but not heavy or overly sweet.
I would say that the thinness and lack of distinguishable chunks of anything in it makes it not a glazing sauce as it will bead right off of hot meat. Rather this is a wet BBQ sauce. Meaning you grill to the point of dry crispy outsides, then use this stuff to rehydrate the outside during the sweat/stand time.
That is of course unless one is using it as a main ingredient in a marinade or to thin down a thicker sweeter sauce to preference (an adjuster of sorts). Or even using it as a dipping bbq sauce. Which are all good options.
I have pleasantly surprised quite a few people with it. I would say that it goes better with chicken than with pork (having tried it on both but not on beef or fish yet). I use it mostly with drumsticks (just because drumsticks are my favorite). I could see adding some heat to it and using it for hot wings.

What I think is it's extremely overpriced.
Doesn't worth it. I don't recommend.
