ScienceThe Science in a science kit almost seems implied, but that's not always the case. Many manufacturers create kits that have activities but they neglect to explain the real science. The scientists on Be Amazing! Toys' team love to share their passion for science in each kit they create. |
TechnologyIt's no surprise to anyone that technology is the way of the future. In fact, the speed at which technology is changing is staggering. Whether it's using the camera in your smartphone or video chatting the results of your experiment with grandma and grandpa the use of technology is baked into just about anything we do these days, and our science kits are no different. |
EngineeringHow did they build that? How does that work? These are often questions from kids that illustrate their thirst for understanding how things work. We strive to provide real world connections in our kits to help the kids understand how things work in the world around them. |
MathmaticsWithout a strong grasp of math we'd struggle everywhere from the supermarket to balancing our budget. We tie mathematics into our science kits in key ways. Kiddos will use math to determine how much of different liquids and powders to use to make the experiment work. Let the number fun begin! |

It feels like moist diaper filling. I personally don't like the way it feels, but my 2 daughters LOVE IT!!!
You can't make snowballs!!! ~ it's just light and fluffy bits of "I don't know what" ~ it looks like snow, but doesn't feel like snow.
Now, what do you do after you made snow? Throw it away. You can't save it. Supposedly, it will dry out and you can reuse. How long that takes, I have no idea ~ we left this in a bowl for over 2 weeks and it was still moist diaper filling. So, I don't think it can be re-used.
Oh, there is a "TRICK" to making it ~ The faster you add the water, the better it seems to work. Don't pour the water slow. Use the correct measurements that are suggested. We like putting the "Powder" in a tall glass (see through so you can clearly watch it expand) and put the glass inside a bowl to catch the overflow ~ it WILL overflow. Then, while everybody watches, quickly pour the suggested amount of water into the glass. It takes a moment, not long, but long enough that you think ~ Is it going to work? and then BOOM ~ it does. It just expands and expands and expands, overflowing the glass and filling the bowl ~ how much depends upon how much "Powder & water" you use. O ~ and more water is NOT better.
All in all, EVERYONE who has played with this at my home, LOVED it! We made batches and batches and batches of this stuff. But as a mom who had to "clean up" afterwards, I hated it. (but I did love making it. So I definitely see the appeal). I do suggest buying it and just "sucking it up" (not literally ~ I think this would kill a vacuum) when it's time to clean...
We took a video of how the product grows when you add the water to it. The glitter in the snow is a glitter confetti we added on top of our decor, so this product does not glitter, it looks like pure white snow!

So, funny story. Not knowing how messy this stuff could be, and living in Phoenix AZ, thought it would be cool to make it look like it snowed outside Christimas morning. Found a site selling similar stuff in bulk, so ordered enought to make 75 Gallons of snow. It came in 3 quart-sized pouches. I got up early before the kids and with a 5-gallon bucket started mixing up the stuff 3-4 gallons at a time. I had to mix the concoction with a stick to get it to all absorb evenly.
I took the now 25 Lb bucket of "snow" and dumped it around the edges of the patio, in the planters, on the edge of the trampoline, around the walkway steps, you get the idea.
Wow! It did look like it snowed when they looked out the window, SUCCESS!!! And 5-10 minutes of excitement/joy of having a white christmas in PHX.
After the presents were open, breakfast had, now it's time to play outside. WHAT A MESS!!!
That stuff sticks really well to EVERYTHING, bike tires, shoes, and it brings anything it touches with it, gravel, sticks, rocks, dirt, etc, etc, etc.
I grabbed a shovel and scraped as much as I could into one pile, our of the way, hoping the stuff would just biodegrade and go away, but it rained a day or two later, washing the stuff from its nice pile to where ever it wanted to go. Remember the movie BLOB? Another few days later I grab the wheel barrow and shovel and rake and go after this stuff once and for all.
Anyway, hindsight, I wouldn't do that again LOL.
