Holds heat no better than Iron Flask
(Review for 40oz) : After seeing the Project Farm video giving the Hydro Flask (21oz) it's highest rating for holding heat, I was encouraged to try out this 40oz flask. Project Farm didn't do a test on the also popular Iron Flask, but I figured that since the Hydro Flask costs more than twice as much as the the Iron Flask, then the Hydro Flask must be better, right? What better way to find out than to pit the two against each other in a test. (see photo for results).It turns out that the two have almost identical temperature curves. It's uncanny how similar they are. Their shapes and weight are almost identical. I can only imagine that they have very similar internal designs. They seem like almost identical products, though I prefer the cap design on the Iron Flask (actually comes with three caps to choose from).I don't have other models to compare these two against, but this is much improved over my 20 year standard issue thermos. I would wager that these two are near the front of the pack for consumer 40oz. But, I can't imagine paying twice as much for the Hydro Flask when the Iron Flask seemingly performs identically.

I had a 32oz. Hydro Flask but wanted a bigger one and the 8oz. difference is noticeable and perfect! The lid can be a bit tricky to hold and can hurt your fingers if you hold it for too long on a hike, though. It stays insulated for hours and ice does not melt quickly!
