So get this, I initially saw this at my friends house while visiting with my puppy. Guess who decided she loved this toy more than the cats!? The ball absolutely kept her entertained, and when she figured out she could dig into the cardboard she had a hayday. Of course, she had to be monitored while playing, and definitely grew out of it quickly, but if this can hold up to a rambunctious puppy, it should do well for kitties!

My Dad's cat LOVES this. He doesn't do anything with the ball, but every time you come in the door, he goes and scratches on the cardboard circle. I even put just a "refill" cardboard circle by itself upstairs, and he uses that also.

He loves it so much, I gave my cat one of the refills. She scratches on it sometimes, but most of the time she likes to lay on top of it.

Because THEY loved it, when my aunt said her cat is scratching all the furniture etc, and when a friend said she was worried about her furniture also, we bought BOTH of them one of these. Both my aunt and my friend said their cats LOVE them and are scratching on these instead of on the furniture.

Note: They don't completely stop scratching furniture; however, there are non-toxic, non-staining products you can spray on furniture to deter them.
