I've been playing fighting games since Yie-ar Kung Fu and Karate Champ. I always wanted an arcade quality fighting stick since the 90's. Back then, in the US , that meant you had to pad hack a stick and load it up with Happ controls. I didn't realize how much I'd like Japanese controllers until my friends imported a few cabinets for their arcade.
With the exception of the analog sticks, all the buttons of the PS4 Dual Shock are represented. The 8 30mm action buttons are: Circle, Square, Triangle, Cross (that's what Sony calls it), L1, L2, R1, R2. The L3 and R3 buttons are up top in the central button cluster that contains the PS, Share, Option, PS3/4/PC switch and D-pad/Stick selection. Below that is the touch pad. There are also buttons for Turbo and Led on/off. The LED’s are the bank of red arrows to the left and right of the central button cluster. The light when either buttons are pushed (on the right side) or when the joystick is moved (on the left side).
The Dragon has Sanwa JLF and OBSF buttons. If you like these, this could be the stick for you. It's big, sits nicely in the lap, and provides ample room for your hands and wrists. I can put my Samsung Note 8 on the left side of the stick and still have room to play. The JLF joystick in my model came with a rounded square gate. I prefer this to the Happ joysticks of my youth. The only modification I will make to this stick will be to add in an octagonal gate (insert) and a Phreakmods EX Groove removable shaft. The octagonal gate is preference and the removable shaft is mainly for storage, although having a few extra handles, like a bat top, on hand is nice. In stock form (rounded square gate), this stick is allows for me to do Dragon punch motions from crouching block (F,D,DF) easily and works well with Charge-type characters (like Guile/blanka/Honda). However, this rounded square gate gives me problems with the circular motions like Hadoukens, Yoga Flames, and 360’s (Spinning Pile Drivers).
I am writing this review a few days into having the stick, but this is why I am getting an Octagonal gate. Compared to a DS4 pad, I feel like I cannot get my SFV supers out as fast (or by accidental convenience). It has been decades since I’ve been on a Sanwa Lever, so I am probably out of practice. One thing I also notice is I have to be a little slower in my circular motion and button push, like I’m doing the move too fast. It seems like I don’t have a problem with the DS4 pad in timing, but when I use the Dragon it doesn’t keep up. It’s probably just practice.
The 30mm Sanwa OBSF buttons take very little effort for me to push. Sometimes just resting my fingers on them can cause an input.
The Dragon is easy to switch out sticks and buttons. The top is hinged and opens up by pressing on two latches on the edge closest to you. I don't have any accessories like additional lever handles (bat top) so I am unsure if they will fit inside. Everything except for the controller PCB is viewable from inside through a clear plastic cover. The cover is removable by one screw and all the buttons are labeled nicely in case you want to switch them out.
This stick is a keeper. I’ve noted a few mods I’d make above, but this could be a lifetime kind or stick. All one would have to do is update the PCB if needed for newer consoles or just stick with PC. I have not used this stick for anything else but fighting games. I would take this stick to Tournaments, but it is a bit big and heavy. For Travel and Tournaments, other commercially available sticks I would consider would be the Hori Fighting Edge, Victrix Pro FS, and Qanba's own Obsidian or Pearl. I prefer metal tops or at lease plexiglass over metal. Of course you could also make your own fighting stick from the various custom makers once you've discovered what you like after owning the Dragon.
I did my homework before purchasing this. You’d have to before dropping close to $300 on an input device that won’t necessarily make you better at fighting games. This is ranked by enthusiasts among the top arcade sticks for quality and the final product shows.
Pros
-Sturdily built, tank like case weighing a whopping 12 pounds
-Button pattern is great for large hands like mine
-Excellent responsiveness and quick reset of joystick and buttons
-Different preset modes for output to PlayStation consoles or PC that work without downloading additional programs or tweaking device
-Sleek design with noticeable LED panels that accentuate the housing rather than detract from it
-Housing has easy access release levers that allows the panel to hinge upward exposing the underside of inputs making modding or repair incredibly accessible
-Theme of “dragon” continued on upper portion of base inside with soft material embossed in a scale pattern with the Qanba logo centered
*very nice touch in my opinion here*
Cons
-Weight could be an issue if this is your tournament stick and you tire easily
-In order to mod the components you must break a QA seal to remove the shield that covers the input components
-This may only apply to folks with larger hands; the top of the ball on the joystick comes up to just under my middle finger with the edge of my hand resting on the case, perpendicular to the top. Your mileage may vary depending upon your style of play
-The case top is a fingerprint magnet
With the pros and cons out of the way, I can venture into my personal experience with the product. Since purchasing this stick, I have played fighting games exclusively and I have found they’ve been incredibly simple to learn while using an arcade stick. This will not be true for some folks. This stick (or any other) will more likely than not, not make you magically god-tier at fighting games. It just clicked for me and I’m enjoying laying the hurt down on opponents in GGST. The Qanba Dragon is, in my opinion, an excellent arcade stick that is well worth the money spent. The components are of great quality that seem built to last hours and hours of mashing and slamming (I tend to repeatedly mash on wake-up and I’m heavy handed on my devices-no issues yet).
In conclusion: I’d be surprised if someone who shelled out the money for this was dissatisfied with the product. It really is great in form and functionality and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Thanks Qanba and thanks Amazon for carrying this amazing product.

I primarily game using a PC, so I have only tested this product using a PC on numerous fighting games.
For anyone looking to purchase this device, be warned - this is a heavy arcade stick. It is massive! So if you want to game with it on your lap, you have been warned.. it is just over 11lbs! (Dimensions: 20" x 12.5" x 5" Weight: 11.6 lbs) This has a very solid & sturdy build and it feels and looks like a high end product from top to bottom. It comes with Sanwa buttons and it can be easily customized if you choose to make tweaks to it.
I have zero regrets on buying this stick. It is worth it. However it is over $300.00 (CDN).
It is my second arcade stick as I do have the RAZER Atrox for my XBOX. I do like the look and feel of this stick slightly better than the Atrox. I have attached a photo for size comparison.
There are good quality grip pads under the arcade stick, so if you choose to use a table while you game, it will not slide around.
Overall, I would highly recommend this arcade stick if you do not mind spending the extra $ for a quality product from Qanba. One thing to note is that the surface of this arcade stick is very shiny with a high gloss finish that does attract finger prints quickly. I would recommend keeping a microfibre cloth close by while gaming.
Update: This works with the PS5. I’m super happy that this device continues to deliver performance in the next generation console.

ive used for i guess 300+ hours probably more havent needed to change anything yet it came with a square gate i change to octagonal when it arrived. also took this to two tournaments and it was heavy maybe 5kg i dont have a carrycase so hold under arm. im quite heavy handed and grind off the gate alot and still all crisp inputs
edit: 5 years 1000+ hours still crisp inputs and working fine. also regarding the plastic around the buttons someone wrote a paragraph crying about. ive never needed to take it off and i use the underpart of the stick that unlocks to keep my gloves and ethanol wipes to keep stick clean.
also works on PS5.
