The electrical pins were bent and would not insert in to the unit. I carefully used pliers to bend them back straight and it seems to work, but I should not have had to fix a new product!!

So I trimmed 5 trees too close to the house with this saw . I was surprised at how well it cut because some limbs were close to eight inches in diameter. I have used only gas powered saws previously and I love the gas saw for cutting bigger things. It stinks to drag a cord around, but what I knew was I would use this saw then put it up for a year or 18 months then get it out again and the gas would be turned or carb be gummed up or just not start. It was also cheaper than a gas unit. Use a 12-14 gauge cord(s) to handle the current and length of cord and get off the saw trigger if the chain binds or you'll burn the motor up in no time. It's also top heavy compared to a gas pole saw so handling it takes a little getting use to. The bar will pivot some which is handy also. Overall happy.

This is a first day review.. but so far I'm really impressed by this Tree Saw..
Product design and quality seem first rate,, no flimsy pole or cheap feeling plastic..
I used this for a good hour taking down limbs from around 1" up to 6" on trees around my property..
It easily cut through Cedar, Oak and Bodark (crab-apple), which is a super hard wood.
The self oiling system worked well and kept a good film of oil on the chain the whole time I was cutting.
The motor produces enough power to keep a good chain speed as long as you don't try to force the chain through the wood.
3 year manufacturer warranty is nice.. especially from a real company.. not some no-name amazon brand...
Only two negatives I'd say are :
1, the manual is a bit vague on assembling the pole to the handle and saw.. it only fits one way based on the electrical connectors on each end.. so look at both ends and make sure you've got it matched up with the end your inserting it into.
2, Being well built and having the motor at the top end, it's a bit heavy.. Nothing too bad, but it does have some heft to it. The good news is it only takes a few seconds to make a cut, so your not holding it up high for very long...

I had some branches that were pretty high up, around 25 feet. So I knew that I would need to climb on a ladder to cut them. I looked at the specs and it said this was about 7.5 lbs. I figured, I can hold that up and cut the branches while I am on a ladder no problem. Well guess what, PROBLEM! First of all there were no instruction on how to assemble the pole saw in the box. You might be thinking how difficult can it be. Four pieces that fit into each other. Wrong. If you put the handle or the power head in facing the wrong way, they will fit, but they wont work. There are two little tiny metal prongs that have to slip into the right holes or nothing spins, and no cutty cutty. After a quick tutorial on youtube I got it working. But when I climbed up on that ladder to reach those high branches, I thought I was one of the Wallendas on a tightrope. The pole saw feels a lot heavier than 8 lbs when you reaching above your head. So buy this if, 1. You have access to youtube. 2. You are only cutting from the ground.

Style: 10-Inch, 8-Amp Corded Pole SawVerified Purchase
This pole saw is my 5th one to have. All prior ones were 8 inch electric which cut just as good if not better than any gas chain saw . I'm a 5'3 female and my husband wanted me to try a pole saw years ago so he wouldn't have to worry about me being so close to the chain and getting hurt if it kicked back. Ive had the best time using them and love the fact I've got enough trees to keep me busy. I will describe for you how this one compares to the prior ones and hope this helps someone out. The 8" saws are lightweight, very easy to use and all worked great. The best one I had was an old Home Depot brand that was red (they dont make anymore) it lasted forever . The next one was a Sun Joe 8" electric and I just stopped using it after at least 2 years. It ran great was easy to manage even as high as I could reach over my head. It was a great purchase. Then Sun Joe changed the way they are made and I wont buy another one until they get rid of the part that tightens the chain and holds it on. Its plastic instead of metal which is much stronger and will last for the application. I couldn't get the knob to loosen or tighten the chain matter of fact it locked up and vise grips wouldn't even move it. It was battery operated. I think they changed all saws to this application and it broke probably the 3rd time I used it. It didn't have enough juice to cut much of anything. . Lots of wasted money on batteries and bad purchase. It's too bad because the prior model was terrific. Next was the Ryobi. I Didn't like it. Can't say it wasn't a good product, but I was used to a straight bar and it was angled not that hard to use but it didn't have enough amps to match the first Sun Joe so it was a no go for me. Once you get used to having a higher amp its hard to go backwards and slower. This is the latest one and I got it for several reasons. I wanted to try a 10" to see how it handled. For my size its not too heavy but I can tell it when I am holding it as far up as it will go. When its coming down its a little harder to control but manageable. It has many of the features that my first one did that I really liked such as the way you loosen and tighten the chain. All components are metal and sturdy. I like how you extend it because its easy to untwist and the bar extends easily from both ends. I can tell this part is made well, the metal is good quality and it might be what makes it a bit heavier. You can have a straight bar or curve it with just a touch of a button. Very easy to work. I have 2 things about the saw that I wish were different and both I think are a deal breaker for me buying another one. If they made a couple of small tweaks to it, it would be unbeatable. First, in my opinion, it needs about 2 more amps to do the job I'm used to. It cuts good but its just a tad bit slower than I like. Second, this is so minor but becomes a big deal when trying to use it, the cord holder hole is too large and the knob you lock it on is too short so the cord won't stay in place and It comes unhooked all the time, gets in the way or comes unhooked from the extension cord. At first I thought I wasn't hooking it up good, but it wasn't me. Its very frustrating, so I just started wrapping electrical tape around the cord and the hook and it works fine. I will say that if youve never had an electric saw, they are fabulous in my opinion. When others are trying to start their saw, revving it up 20 times to get it working (if it does at all) and then you have to smell the fumes of the gas and then carry that gas/oil smell around on you all day long, an electric saw is running wide open from the second you pull the trigger and cuts just as good as any gas saw. You might not can cut as big a tree limb as a 14 or 18 inch bar, thats a given, but where theres a will theres a way. It might take longer to do, but it can be done. I don't suspect anyone would buy this to use on trees that big, but every now and then I run across one I need to get done. They work so good my husband even uses it, when I let him- lol.

I have used it to drop 4 pines and one large maple and one sapling maple and it works very and is running strong. I kind of like its adjustable from both sides, so and has plenty of power. I doubted the saw because the brand since Scott more of a fertilizer/ chemical company in my opinion but this thing is solid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-built, powerful saw
Reviewed in Canada on April 6, 2021
Style: 10-Inch, 8-Amp Corded Pole SawVerified Purchase
I bought this saw to take down two dead 50 foot Lombardy Poplar trees that were growing right against the fence. I wanted a saw that would allow me to reach up and section off the upper trunks and drop them straight down, hopefully without landing in the neighbour's patio, crushing the fence or breaking off branches from the many other trees in the area. This saw worked a treat. It seems very sturdily built and is very powerful - it has no problem cutting a full 8" of hard dry dead wood. It was easily assembled and fully extending the pole sections gives you a good 10 foot working reach. The saw was easily manoeuvred even at full extension. I was impressed with how fast it cut - I had both trees down and bucked in 3 hours with this saw, although I used a 16" saw for the thick section at the base of the tree. The Scott saw has a good chain oil system - it feeds oil through the bar and is much superior to the dribble system on my larger saw. Before use make sure you oil the chain well and use a grease syringe to grease the roller in the bar nose through the 2 holes provide in the bar. Overall, a good little workhorse.

Saw cuts as advertised. It is not heavy for cutting higher spots, but horizontally you will notice the 8lb weight. Mechanically no issues, cuts well, no issues with self oiler and no loss of power in sawing 6” to8” limbs. Suggest using 12-3 rated power cord to ensure sufficient voltage is maintained.

This tool did a super job of taking down about 5 feet off the top of 10 evergreen trees. It is quite heavy when fully extended but still easy to work. It certainly saves you from climbing great heights to reach very high trees. My husband and I are very pleased with our purchase.
