Great product. Worked as they should. As a note, as I was setting these units in aged, very hard, dense hickory I was concerned about stripping the hex head. Especially as I was concerned about the treads pulling out of the wood so I drilled the pilot hole for soft wood. To help reduce friction, I applied some bar soap to the external threads prior to threading them into the wood. The inserts went in easily and I had no issues with stripping the hex heads.

In the past, I used the brass E-Z Lok inserts, which can't be inserted without marring the wood around the insert, no matter how you do it, and the brass often breaks when you use the company's inserter. Their stainless steel inserts are probably stronger but the price is crazy. Inserts like this aren't an exotic part.

These are an excellent alternative because you can drive them in with a hex key without marring your workpiece, I haven't had any issues with them so far and the price is excellent.

I wanted to install these to attach some locking swivel casters on the base for my router table. The directions provided were very helpful. I ended up assembling an installation and removal tool. The coupling nut opposite the threaded insert is installed loosely in the drill press chuck. By "loosely" I mean that the chuck jaws hold the nut in alignment but the nut is loose enough to slip. The insert is installed by tightening the nut next to the insert. If the hole for the insert is the correct size (tight, but not TOO tight). the installation tool can be remove by loosening the nut closest to the insert. If the hole isn't snug enough, the tool can be removed by holding the shaft and using a wrench to remove the lower nut.

These inserts worked great. They were just what I needed to get a great looking caster installation.
