I've tried all sorts of rubbers on my journey to a USATT rating of 1950, from Tibhar Evolution series to Donic Bluefire to Butterfly Tenergy. The Mark V, despite being the cheapest of them all, is a good all-round rubber. It's the slowest I've played with but on the other hand, it gives me excellent control and I've been able to place my blocks very effectively.
You can hit loops with this rubber but they won't be as spinny as one of the tensor rubbers (Evolution, Tenergy, etc.).
I actually found the best combination for me is a very fast blade with a slower rubber like Butterfly Viscaria + Mark V, or the opposite: a slower all-wood blade with a faster rubber like Stiga Ebenholz + Tibhar Evolution.
That said, you don't have to replace your blade every 2-3 months but you do replace your rubbers. Given that the Mark V is a good $20 per rubber cheaper than Evolution/etc., it's a winner in my book.
I'm going to try Rakza 7 next- similarly low price point but let's see how that fares against Mark V/Evolution/Tenergy.
I replaced the rubber on STIGA pro-carbon racket after a year of use. Red side - Butterfly Shriver, black -Mark V. Mark V is stiffer but with slightly higher tackiness. All in all - great improvement. At the beginning Mark V had some rubber smell, but it disappeared rapidly. So, I am quite satisfied with it, would by it again. May be, will replace Shriver with Mark V in a year or so.
pretty decent rubbers. They are well made and great for people who just started learning how to glue and put together their own racket. I suggest to anyone to use these rubbers as a stepping stone to understanding what type of rubbers fit their stype the best
It is a great rubber for players like who are starting to play more serious, optimum combination of control, speed and loop. Actually, this is the first rubber which I glued myself on my new blade(Butterfly Innerforce ZLF). I am using it for my forehand and now I think I should have got it for backhand as well. It has been out there for decades and is a great choice to start with!
Great all around rubber. A bit slow for my level now, perfect for new and intermediate players. Excellent control, love it on the backhand. This is a not just a newbie rubber. I still use it.
These skins are the best: Excellent control excellent top spin. Like it was made for me. A friend who ususlly play against was amazed by the top spin, control and how easily i adjusted. I would certainly recommend this to serious table tennis players.
