I'm using this book as one of my reference resources for a novel I'm writing; I've got several of this type book and I must say this is by far the best I've seen so far. In addition to highly authentic stories, there are also very clever little pen-and-ink illustrations to delight the reader. One caveat: because of the way this edition was reproduced, you'll occasionally find typos, such as the word "far" instead of the word "fox". They're easily figured out though, not a deterrent to buying the book at all, I feel. The stories are truly grand and worthy of reading to a young one or an older one, for that matter. :)

I wish I could give it a lower rating. It felt I was reading 📚 one of my kids summarized school books. "But", not bad. Since this is the kindle ebook; one is able to quickly check out words. The aspect of learning new words was most interesting to me.

There were times I found myself lost. Not because of the Scottish words and phrases. But, because I thought the word was English and not part of the folklore. What do I know!? I'm not Scottish; so I wouldn't know.

I still enjoyed it. Although it felt like a school book; it was still interesting. 🍀

I get that your ebook is quite cheap, but still, you could at least have gotten rid of the page numbers found in the free text document. Same with the short excerpts in capital letters. Or the '[paragraph continues]', '[click here to enlarge]', etc. It's really hard to understand and follow the text sometimes!
I understand that, given the price of your ebook, you're not going to spend hours editing it (and I really wasn't expecting that), but still, give me at least one reason to buy it when I can find the exact same text for free on the internet, since it's out of copyright anyway.
So I'm sorry, I really don't want to be mean, but maybe you should at least make these tiny little changes so people will actually happily pay for your ebook! Thank you!

You know that you're holding something produced by an amateur when the final entry in the contents page is "Error! Bookmark not defined!", the "Publisher"'s intro is copy/pasted from Wikipedia, the book formatting is practically default Microsoft Word (it looks like Arial to me), en- and em-dashes are still typeset with --, and the footnote reference in *every single chapter heading* is typeset inline rather than superscript.

This looks like nothing so much as a shonky job where someone has taken a text file, pasted it into Word and done a minimal amount of processing.

Find a better copy and save your money.
