In order to use the water locking mechanism without excessive wear and tear, gently move the lock switch in between the open and closed positions. This will allow the water within the container to flow freely in between the container and the mouth when pressing the dispense and recycle button. Both buttons and switches are part of the overall functionality of the product, please use them both gently to avoid damage. Do not use both lock switch and dispense button at the same time as this may result in misuse of the product and result in internal damage., In order to ensure the longevity and intended use of the product, do not put any other liquid inside other than water. A liquid more viscous than water may result in faulty functioning of the product and result in damage of the internal water locking mechanism. Do not throw or mishandle the product to reduce the possibility of internal damage. Please avoid using both the dispense and lock switch at the same time to avoid unintended internal damage to the water locking mechanism.

I love these water bottles, however, 2 of the 3 I've bought have broken in a short amount of time. I cannot blame the bottle completely, as we have dropped them a couple of times while wrestling to get two dogs in the car. We've also run them through the dishwasher, which is probably not helpful either, but keep them in the middle rack. I love the size and design. They are helpful on hikes and outdoor play. You can let the unused water (if not too dirty from dogs) drain back in the bottle to preserve it on a hot day. I do wish they were a little more durable though. Overall, great idea!
