First of all, noise level is definitely there, but it *is* a fan after all, and it is also right next to my ears. I took it off to listen as well, and while I can still hear it, it is a smooth fan sound. It isn't obnoxious to be around if someone else were to be wearing it, however wearing it oneself may make it difficult to hear everything around them.
I think this is idea for summer yard work and what not, maybe not so much in a heavily social situation. I bought it for camping when I need to cool off quickly and it does the job very well, even on the lowest setting. The design is fantastic and adjustable for different neck sizes. I haven't tested the battery life to its full potential yet, so no comment on that as of now.
Definitely glad I made this purchase. I am excited to try it when it actually warms up outside, haha. (I got it now because it is on sale)

Longest battery life
I live in the east coast. It was very hot today. We did some yard work and needed handheld fans to cool off. I have 5 handheld fans and 2 neck fans. Unfortunately all 6 fans batteries were dead. This brand held its battery charged even after 8 months stored in my drawer. I used this neck fan today for 4 hours while I charged the other fans. I was impressed with its battery life. I'll make sure all fans are fully charged before putting them away. Happy with my purchase.
