This isn't a typical smart watch. I think of this of more like a smart GPS and ABC combined with an advanced activity tracker and health monitor. It still boasts a a very graphical and detailed display even though it's basically a simple black LCD display. It also has alot of alert and alarm sounds as well as haptic vibration. You can still control your music, read text messages, accept and reject calls, and many other smart watch activities, just like you would on the touch screen type of device. The buttons become pretty intuitive but were a little bit of a learning curve as I've had the vivoactive for a couple of years now . There are many fields to each watch face which are easily customizable, as are activities. The instinct has many built in widgets, activities, and controls that you can choose from and customize every aspect of. This allow you to shape the experience you want. Combine all of that with the retro styling and it's a no-brainer.
I did a test to measure the accuracy of the wrist heart sensor to a Wahoo Tickr chest strap and it was pretty spot on. Idk if the prior models were calibrated differently but they were off. Maybe this model being a gamer version, the calibration is a different than the others? Not sure, but I am happy it’s close to accurate.
My usage for this Watch is for walking, hiking, running and trail running. So the heart accuracy needs to be as close to accurate as possible. I know the GPS will be great because the Instinct has multiple GPS options for tracking.
This model was also a steal because it was over $50 cheaper than the base model graphic color.
I recommend this watch even if you’re not a gamer because it loaded with so many sport profiles.
Models/versions owed:
Tactical Solar - All black
Base -Graphite (gray)
Base -Tundra (tan)
Base Solar -Red
Esport -All black with red accents (KEEPING!)

I've had this for about a week and so far it does a wonderful job. For starters, the esports widget is pretty handy. As someone with PTSD, it has helped me notice before things get out of hand. The heartrate monitor and heartrate notification really helps ground me when I'm in full-blown triggered mode.
The GPS mode took some getting use to but after a few days, you get the hang of it. When you get notifications you can choose to block certain applications which is a strong plus.
I also took this on a 3 hour hike in the pouring rain. It didn't once malfunction and everything is working beautifully after the fact.
The battery life is also pretty good and GPS mode is only active when you want it to be.
In closing, if you're looking for an affordable smart watch with a classic electronic watch feel, this thing is a beast. It offers a wide range of applications and doesn't require regular calibration. I've also found it almost invaluable when monitoring my mental health.
5 out of 5. Highly recommend!

I got tired of having to charge my watch every few days if not sooner and this watch not only has integrated GPS but a great battery life and was super inexpensive. I loved it so much I got one for my dad as well.
It has everything I need and a few things I didn't think I did and the two garmin apps I'm using with it are great.
Garmin also has a great privacy policy so as long as that doesn't change I may be sticking with them for the foreseeable future.
No complains!

Tem como configurar vários itens e app no Garmin Connect.
Não funciona com o Connect IQ e não é carregamento solar!
In pure watch mode I often get a month or more between charges. In active sports modes (walking, running etc) obvious that's a lot less, but I'd say I'm getting 6-8 hours of GPS tracking time and still getting 2 weeks between charges.
The biggest let down for me is the esports component. As a gamer and streamer I was really keen to utilise the overlay metrics here in my stream feed. The problem is that the str3amup! software doesn't appear to support any streaming software except for OBS. Given that many users (myself included) use streamlabs obs, you can't import any overlays or metrics into the stream software and the software isn't being support by garmin in any real capacity so updates are non existent.
As a watch, decent item, as a training watch, great for gym, runners, swimmers, as an esports device, it fails to capture a large group that would buy it for that due to limited software and no support in this field.
If you're just an active person looking to track activities, look at a different model. Had I known what I know now, I would have gotten a different model.
