PRAISE FOR JOSIE'S BOOKS:

THE HOUSEWIFE ASSASSIN'S HANDBOOK:

“The last book that made me laugh: Josie Brown's The Housewife Assassin's Handbook.
Brown's unorthodox surprises did make me laugh. I taught it in a class about comic novels."
—Jane Smiley

"I am sure many of those whose spy-oriented online company I keep wonder about me sometimes. On many days I will join in deep discussions about the works of Le Carré, Deighton, Greene, Ambler, and Forsyth. And then I take incredible delight in a series like the Housewife Assassin. Just the name would likely cause eyebrows to be raised, and likely my stature as an 'expert' falls a bit. Too bad! I read for enjoyment. The authors mentioned above all entertained the heck out of me. And so does Josie Brown's wonderfully fun and amusing series about Donna Stone. She has, at the time of this writing, 17 adventures out, and I have paid good money for each one." — Randall Masteller, Spy Guys + Gals Reviews

“The Housewife Assassin’s Handbook is a hilarious, laugh-out-loud read. Donna is a fantastic character – practical, witty, and kick-ass tough. There’s plenty of action – both in and out of the bedroom – and although there are a few grittier scenes, generally this is a light, humourous caper of a crime novel. I especially love the housekeeping tips at the start of each chapter – each with its own deadly twist! This book is perfect for relaxing in the bath after a long day. I can’t wait to read the next in the series. Highly Recommended.”

—Stephanie Broadribb’s Crime Thriller Girl

"Brown takes Donna through every emotion realistically: sadness, stress, guilt, worry, jealousy, anger, feeling violated, and feeling betrayed then finally victorious. There's enough comedy sprinkled in between the emotional scenes and within the action to keep readers' minds from going too grim here. Brown writes the kind of feminist action plot that men should be reading, especially male authors, to cure that trope of 'vapid sexy girl with gun.'" —Amber Love

THE BABY PLANNER:

“Brown takes baby mania to its illogical, hysterical extreme in this bubbly romp….But what begins as a light foray into Bugaboo country turns into something bigger than a satire of status-obsessed Bay Area yummy mummies as Brown takes a dark look at the fears of parenthood and family, with Katie's heartbreaking longing for a child unveiling a disturbing reality about her marriage and family. Still, the message from the somber realities is one full of hope: love makes a family, commitment keeps it together.” —Publishers Weekly

SECRET LIVES OF HUSBANDS AND WIVES:

“Josie Brown writes with all the secrets, sex, money and scandal of an OK Magazine cover. Truly entertaining reading.”–Jackie Collins, Hollywood Wives

“Josie Brown's writing is whip-smart as well as wickedly funny, and just as you are enjoying the ride she takes you on, she shatters your heart with her insight into modern lives.” –Tatjana Soli, New York Times bestselling author and 2011 recipient of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction for The Lotus Eaters

“Already touted as the perfect summer beach read, this character-driven (sometimes steamy) book can best be described as the offspring of an affair between Desperate Housewives and a Jennifer Weiner novel… A quick look into the sometimes catty world of wealth where priorities get shifted, friendships get broken and marriages, like their mansions, get rearranged. It was light and fluffy (with some excellent dialogue.)…” — GoodHousekeeping.com

“I loved it! Josie Brown captures the highs and lows of love, lust and marriage with heart-wrenching pathos. The perfect beach read!” — Lisa Rinna, actress, and author of the novel Starlit

HOLLYWOOD HUNK (A True Hollywood Lies Novels):

The tone is confessional, the writing laced with venomous humor…”

—Wall Street Journal

“Brown captures the humor of working for a megalomaniac…[A] well-paced, entertaining story…” —Publishers Weekly

“A fine piece of literary work.” —New York Post

“Brad, Angelina, Britney and Kevin may want to check out Josie Brown's new novel, Impossibly Tongue-Tied, for its ripped-from-the-headlines plot that mixes their scandals together…” – PAGE SIX, New York Post

Dear Readers,

Like most authors I know, I'm a voracious reader. My favorite classic authors are Edith Wharton, John le Carre, Martin Cruz Smith, Jane Austen, Graham Greene, P.D. Wodehouse, Margaret Mitchell, Glen David Gold, and Raymond Chandler.

As for contemporary authors, I think that both Martin Cruz Smith and John Le Carre are two of the best writers alive, and I love the writing styles of Helen Fielding, Jackie Collins and Allison Pearson. I think John Lescroart and MJ Rose are amazing, both as authors and author advocates.

I'm a cinephile (I see everything--chick flicks, action films, art house movies, almost every kind of foreign film) and I'm a walker and hiker--anywhere from four to eleven miles a day.

Otherwise, I'M WRITING. Or researching for my next books....meeting the wonderful people who let me know that what I write resonates with them...or hanging out in my fave bookstores (which is any bookstore in any town I happen to be in, at the time).

I've got a sweet romantic husband (who both cooks AND walks the dog, come rain, sleet or flood), and two great funny kids, a boy and a girl. Yeah, I know, I'm lucky, and I should count my blessings. (Believe me, I do!)

I have read every book in this series so far and they are all so much fun to read. There’s so much action and surprises in each one. There are times while reading that I try to figure out what will happen next based upon what I am reading and most of the time what I am expecting happens later. I will definitely keep reading this entire series.

I really liked having the family Stone thrust into the Hollywood scene for this book. Their script consultant job paralleled with their clear-Donna's-name agenda. Although way too convenient and contrived, it worked for me as a lover of escape thrillers. At this point in the series, I'm getting frustrated by her childrens' failure to connect, well ANY dots whatsoever. Do they know about their parents' jobs or not? Have they not realized that nobody ever calls their father Carl, as he is commonly addressed as Jack by everyone?

The only bad thing about this book is that it ends!! Once again, I am left wanting more.

In this installment, Donna & Jack are on the run and have to clear their names. Accused of being terrorists they take the kids and go to work consulting on a Housewife Assassin's movie. Traveling to the different shooting locations is the perfect way for our daring duo to find proof of their innocence. I really enjoyed learning more about the kids in this installment. We get to see more of their personalities.

I can't wait for the next book!!

Everyone hits the road for another Family Stone adventure filled with the expected exciting and yet unpredictable twists and turns. I love this series for the over the top action, snarky humor, and love of family. The continued character development over the 7 books has been a joy to follow, Donna and Jack just keep getting closer and we keep learning more and more about their children and ACME co-workers. The tips that start each chapter are icing on this wonderful cake of a book.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the beginning in the series . I was so looking forward to ending the series and getting rid of Carl for good. Enough already. But no. Now I have to wait till August for the next one. End this series already. Had I known it would be so drawn out I wouldn't have started with that 1st free book even though it has been a good series. Just to drawn out.

Follow the twists and turns of Donna and Jack, and the Acme team as they set out on another harrowing Quorum plot. Even devoted Brown readers will not predict what happens to this favorite team. Josie Brown ends the story nicely but leaves us appropriately waiting for additional stories. Each character is well developed and stands alone, but is so enjoyable when read as a series. This is fun!
