This book is about Spider, a football player and Emery, the coach’s daughter. Both Emery and Spider are jaded from the things they have experienced in their lives but after Emery uses Spider as a weapon to piss off her dad, they see a likeness in each other that opens them both up to the idea of something more.
From reading the part I did in the anthology, I thought this was going to be the typical college romance but I was wrong. This had more going for it than I initially thought and it was not predictable. I’ve found books like this are usually tied up in nice little bows at the end and while this does have a HEA, it didn’t sugarcoat the rest of what was going on. It was realistic and I liked that aspect a lot. I liked this book so much that I’m going to read Bex’s story and maybe Rowan’s but definitely can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you anthology 💗
Spider and Emery hook up after meeting in a bar. At first glance, you wouldn’t think they would be attracted to each other – he’s a pierced and tattooed bad boy, college quarterback and known for his no-strings hook-ups, while she dresses prim and proper in sweater sets with pearls and silk scarves. But their attraction is immediate, and they have an explosive night together.
Things get complicated when, while making a naked middle-of-the-night bathroom run, Spider runs into Emery’s Dad… his Coach. Awkward! Turns out Emery is a woman on a mission to hurt her neglectful father, and Spider is the tool she has chosen to mess with him.
It may be uncool, but Emery is determined to see her plan through, and she continues to pursue Spider to tick off her father. And even though he’s been told to keep his hands off the Coach’s daughter, Spider is intrigued by Emery. She’s nothing like he imagined, and he is drawn to her hidden ‘bad girl’ side who is bold and feisty, and doesn’t care what anybody thinks. And, never one to be told what to do, he can’t keep away.
It’s a fun setup that starts off as one thing, and naturally turns into something else. Spider and Emery holding nothing back from each other, and I loved watching them together! They battle and fight, they flirt and tease, the sexy time is sizzling, and the sweet moments are full of emotion. And I loved the way they impact each other’s lives. They both have a lot of pain from their childhoods and Spider has a battle on his hands to win Emery’s heart, but their journey is beautifully written and I was feeling everything along with them, and as they truly open up and get to know the ‘real’ part of each other, their fall absolutely stole my heart.
Like I said, it’s a quick read, but it’s got great character development and a whole lot of heart. I was completely sucked in to the story, and I finished this one with a huge smile on my face.

Spider is the QB of his college football team. He is every parents worst nightmare in terms of relationship material and that’s exactly why Emery has her sights set on him.
Emery is the coaches daughter, and to say their relationship is non existent is an understatement. When she is forced to move in with her dad she makes it her mission to drive him insane, and to do that, she plans on going after his star QB.
I don’t want to give too much away because there are definitely parts of this story I didn’t see coming but on paper, these two shouldn’t work. She is cardigans and pearls and he is tattoos and muscle cars. But sometimes the outside doesn’t match the inside and on the inside, these two are perfectly imperfect for each other.
Loved this book and can’t wait for the next one.

Both Spider and Emery have pasts to overcome. They have cold exteriors they show to the world but when they're with each other they can't keep up the act.
I loved Emery. She's a psycho in a twin set! I love her! I really felt for her when you find out her past. I had hope through most of it that her dad might come good but lifes no fairlytale and he didn't unfortunately. Luckily she found Spider. I loved reading her inner thoughts. So complex but she unravels for him as the story goes on and it was intriguing and fasinating to read.
Spider is the opposite to All American Football star but somehow it fits him too. Heartbreaking back story, circumstance made him what he is. Dark and untrusting but to those closest to him, i just wanted to hold him! When Emery piques his interest you see the little boy wanting to be loved come out. Never having anyone to care, it made my heart squeeze when he would say "i've never had anyone..." to lots of things you'd take for granted. Like being held or some to support him or be proud of him. Gah i loved him!
When these two are drawn to each other the heat burns the pages but its their kindred spirit that cements them together and really makes you care they get their happy ever after.
I was surprised how the story ended. They're so young! But ya know what?! It was totally them! Unpredictable but normal. Shocking but not. They're both contradictions and i love that!
Loved everything about the story. The supporting characters are great. Fantastic to see more or Carey and Ro and i can't wait to get to know the rest of them! Up next is Loren and Bex. Unlikely pairing but reading the teaser at the end i know i'm gonna love em! Think Bex might be my girl!
