About the Author

M.C. Solaris's life took an unexpected turn during the super blood moon eclipse on January 20, 2019. She woke up and began writing bios for her imaginary friends that she met that day. As soon as the pen hit the paper (or fingertips to the iPhone), she couldn't stop. It was kind of like one of those fire hydrants, spewing copious amounts of water all over the place. The characters and their stories just flowed out of her. She is honored to be the scribe, getting to share her friends' stories. You can read all about her gifted friends in the Orion's Order series (Book 1 is Calypso's Heart).

On a personal note, M.C. Solaris is actually the pseudonym of Marina Schroeder, women's health enthusiast and lover of all things paranormal romance (PNR) and happily ever after (HEA). When she is not curled up on the sofa with her partner's oversized hoodie, a PNR novel, peppermint tea, and one of her three cats, you will find her either at the ocean with her toes in the sand or in a forest hugging a tree. Well truthfully? There is one more place you might find her: trolling the aisles of Whole Foods for a satisfying combination of salty and sweet while hiding in her partner's hoodie... like any proper PNR-writing introvert.

I can’t say enough great things about this book! From the characters to the setting to the romance (and yes, lots of it!), I was sucked in. It’s like a dream coming to life and bringing you along for the ride. There’s all the elements you’d want a great first book of a series - love, lust, drama, danger, vampires, shape shifters, and then even more lust (plus some really steamy scenes)!I was reading it and hoping for more when I noticed the title says “Book One” so I love that there’s more to come.Get on board now so you’re ready for the next books to come out. I could totally see this turning into a show down the line as well.

From the very beginning this book had me from page 1. For me this book was like a twist on the "Twilight" storyline but definitely different and way better. First you have Caly, which is short for Calypso who is living her life just like many of us living paycheck to paycheck working in a job you don't necessary love but stay with it because it does pay the bills. Until one eventful day when she hits the backend of a car and meets this very mysterious man that turns out to be a very, very bad person known as James Barker-aka-The Ghost who kidnaps Caly and tries to make her tell him what "species" she is and all she can tell him is "human" which he does not believe her and causes physical, emotional & psychological torture on her. And that is when Caly's story shifts to something completely different when during the beatings she keeps receiving at the hands of The Ghost, an unknown forcefield surrounds Caly as if to protect her. The there is Blake, who is a shifter who shifts into a werewolf that is pulled into Caly's dreams which is where we find out that Caly is a "dream traveler". This book had everything from werewolves, vampires, mind healers, body healers, trainers, seers, and everything inbetween. If you love shifter romance novels then this one is for you and it definitely does not disappoint.

I might have done an error when setting this book in my scheduled arc calendar as I wrote its release to be for July, 20.
And because the length of it put me off a bit, I planned to read it a few days before release but while preparing my review I discovered it was released a few days ago.
And by curiosity I checked on a few of the reviews, some wrote too about the length, so I now dread a bit more my reading.
But here we go.
And yes it is a long book but until the last quarter, I did not felt it dragged on except from time to time too many details but outside that, it was an interesting read.
While the beginning reminds me a bit of Lucas and Sasha story in the first Psy-Changeling novel when they meet in their dreams, the similarities stop there. In fact the many different super beings, the Orion order and the ancient group and the divided world made me more think about the Bewitched and Bewildered series.
Sure it lags a bit at time with many details, the author introduces her new world and her many characters, offering to each of them at one moment or an other their own space to voice their thoughts.
It even sets up some of the potential couples to be featured in the next books.
I liked the Caly of the beginning, even if I knew where the plot would lead her. And I was quite upset at how her rescue was handled, I did not felt it was an emergency, like they needed too much time to find her.
After the Caly post trauma was very ambivalent, often shifting from one mood to another, dancing around Blake. And oft hurting him even if it was involuntarily done.
Thus I was not sure about the Evil Ice Queen part nor its necessity to the global plot.

But Blake, I loved him, he knows what he wants and goes for it.
Sure he has no doubts on his origins when Caly must learn everything. But he is straightforward and plays no game.
He is an alpha and he takes his role seriously, he protects and hunts if necessary.

The other members of the group are all very intriguing, from the twins big kitties full of fun, the vampire, the geek, the seer, the healers...
Outside shifters, I do wonder if the other species feel the life mate pull?

In all, even if it was not perfect, it is fun new world, I still have some interrogations about it but the various characters will keep the stories up to come entertaining.

Wow, this is the first word that had came in my mind after I finished my reading !!!

The plot was just great, I had been blown away by this reading, and the characters, can we talk about how fun, loving and awesome they are?
Caly was lost and when she met Blake, it was like something in her was being completed. I love their interactions, and how their relationship has evolved from chapters to chapters !!
Caly’s story broke my heart, she doesn’t know who she really is, but someone in the shadow is stalking her and knows that she’s hiding a secret. A secret that even Caly will have to discover with the help of her new friends and protector. And little Felix, so adorable !!

What’s also make that story great, it.s the secondary character !! I won’t lie, I have a crush on Rhyker, I’m so happy that his book will be next, because I can’t wait to read it !!

I’m also very intrigued by Deacon, I also can’t wait to know more about him.

Absolutely loved this, the first couple of chapters were a touch slow, but even with that I was still hooked and needed to know what was going on. I love Caly and Blake so much, Caly is tough but in the real woman tough sense, strong but not invincible and with flaws, with what she goes through and doesn’t give up, I loved her so much. Who wouldn’t love and want their own Blake or either of the twins ! I loved this so much I rushed off and bought it in hardback because I needed a physical copy to love too ! This is a great start to a new series and I really look forward to future books. Highly recommended
