Before It Ends with Us, it started with Atlas. Colleen Hoover tells fan favorite Atlas’s side of the story and shares what comes next in this long-anticipated sequel to the “glorious and touching” (USA TODAY) #1 New York Times bestseller It Ends with Us.

Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil coparenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.

But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.

Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas,
It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the “gripping, pulse-pounding” (Sarah Pekkanen, author of Perfect Neighbors) bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that “no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author).

No because what. Amazon literally dropped the book off at 12:15 PM and the time is now 3:12 AM. I literally finished the book in less than 24 hours. Thank you Colleen because it gave me the closure I needed for Lily. The book is captivating and I could not - for the life of me - put the book down. It gave me hope, suspense, love, and resentment. I was on a roller coaster of emotions and I am GRATEFUL I was off today. My full focus was this book and it didn’t disappoint. Thank you

As an author myself, I write to entertain. Being dyslexic makes writing extremely difficult. When reading, I want to be entertained and I want to learn. I read like a writer, so I read for fun and I dissect every aspect of a book to find out what I like and don't like, and why I feel that way. I liked every aspect of this book, the beginning, the middle, the end, the characters, and the story. I developed an upmost respect for Colleen Hoover as a writer while reading it. I also learned a great deal about writing enter thoughts and POV. I have used the standard italics for enter thought and I've used texting, but I've never used a diary or writing letters. I am a big fan of scene setting and read James Lee Burke to help me improve my scenes. Scene settings helps pull readers inside books. But Colleen Hoover uses a lot of enter thought to set her scenes and she does it masterfully. It not only dragged me into the scenes but allowed me to understand her characters better. I also thought it was great that each chapter stated who's POV each character’s head we were in at the beginning of the chapter. That caused a lot less confusion, so the book doesn't read like it's head hopping. Larry McMurtry gets criticized for "head hopping" but I love his books. I'm sure he laughs all the way to the bank. I read Nelson DeMille for enter thought and he's a master at it, especially when using sarcasm or humor. But Colleen Hoover takes it to a higher level. Thanks for a great story and some good writing lessons, expectably in POV and head hopping. This book gets a much deserved 5-star rating on many levels. I've already ordered It Ends With Us to see what I missed.

I really wanted Lilly to have her happily ever after, and boy, did she get one! This book gifts us with the perfect, heartwarming, well-deserved ending of a beautiful love story.
Our souls need the hope that sometimes things do work out.
I was smiling and crying at the same time at the end.
Such a great book!

Good book with a happy ending. The ending horrible - the absolute worst wedding vows I’ve ever heard! I honestly couldn’t believe that someone would talk so much about their love ending or heart being broken or divorce as part of their marriage vows. But other than that a decent story.

An emotionally intelligent love story, not just romantic love but family and friend love too. Perhaps a bit unrealistic that so many of the characters (including kids) have a high level of wisdom, insight and emotional restraint, but a good read nonetheless.

This book was interesting because it covered a lot. It discussed domestic violence, heartbreak, sincere romantic love, dysfunction in families, true friendships, and family healing/bonding, oh, and an intervention for an abuser that drank excessively. This book also covered blended families and co parenting, and how individuals can overcome childhood adversities.

I was so excited to read It Starts with Us after loving the first book in the series, but unfortunately, this sequel left me a bit disappointed. While it was sweet to see the characters get a happy ending, I found this book incredibly hard to get through. It took me over a year to finish because the pacing was slow and there just wasn't much happening to keep me engaged. Though I did enjoy the continuation of the characters' stories, the overall experience didn't live up to the high expectations set by the first book. In my opinion, the first book was significantly better.

‘It Starts With Us' is the sequel book for Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel “It Ends With Us’. This book begins immediately after It ends with us when lily was dragged through a divorce and domestic abuse from her partner Riley. “It Ends With Us" is a must-read before moving on to "It Starts With Us’. ‘It Starts With Us’ is a more uplifting read than it ends with us. Lily Bloom and Atlas Corrigan have a second chance at their childhood love but not without many struggles and situations they have to tread carefully. To me, this novel, unlike many I have read, didn't feel like it was drugged and unnecessary. The plot lines transitioned very seamlessly throughout the two books not leaving unanswered questions between one and the other. Though it is the sequel, it ends with us. It has its very own unique plot and doesn’t feel repetitive. Taking you through many new character paths and revealing more about each character. The portrayal by Colleen Hoover of a divorced family dynamic and co-parenting situations is very accurate in the sense I have gone through this with my own family. Lily is trying to pursue this relationship with Atlas but still trying to respect her ex-husband Ryle. In time as the book progresses Lily Bloom realizes she deserves the love that Atlas gives her. Once she realizes she deserves this love Atlas and Lily work to rekindle the love they felt for each other as kids. There are different repercussions to this love forming again. The love that is portrayed through the two characters is genuine and child-like in a way making it easy to fall in love with it. Though this book travels through a lot of people's instances of love there are always instances of hatred. Throughout the book, there are instances where it is hard to tell who is right and who is wrong, or what is right and what is wrong. She never makes the antagonist truly the antagonist; she makes them ready to feel empathy towards them because it may not be their fault it’s happening. They may just be stuck in a cycle. “It starts with us giving us more of the background of Atlas Corrigan's life than we got in. It ends with us where it was mainly only Lily's point of view.

‘It Ends With Us’ takes you through the emotional roller coaster of domestic abuse happening and there being someone in that situation that has the resources to break out. “It Starts With Us’ is a story of rekindling love and hope for recovery from her earlier abuse. This book is proving that not every love is unconditional. They can be toxic and unhealthy, but there are those once-in-a-lifetime loves like Atlas and Lilys. Relationships are flawed and nothing comes easy. “It Starts With Us” is a beautiful and comforting read. The novel gently sorts through the aftermath of complications in “It Ends With Us”. This sequel demonstrates the sense that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a chance to have happiness even in fearful situations.``It starts with us” successfully brings forth lilies and atlases story at their second chance at true love.
