About this item
- Cinnamon is a spice that is made from the inner bark of trees scientifically known as Cinnamomum. It has been used as an ingredient throughout history, dating back as far as Ancient Egypt. It used to be rare and valuable and was regarded as a gift fit for kings.
- There are two main types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon: Also known as "true" cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon: The more common variety today and what people generally refer to as "cinnamon."
- Cinnamon is loaded with powerful antioxidants. In a study that compared the antioxidant activity of 26 spices, cinnamon wound up as the clear winner, even outranking "superfoods" like garlic and oregano.

Product Description
►Cinnamon powder comes from the bark of tropical, evergreen trees. In order to harvest cinnamon, it's peeled off of the inside of the bark of the tree. There are two main types of cinnamon: Ceylon and Cassia. The majority of the cinnamon you'll find at the grocery store is Cassia. Ceylon grows primarily in Sri Lanka and isn't as common.
►Ceylon cinnamon may sometimes be referred to as "true" cinnamon. Ceylon and Cassia are both cinnamon, but from different parts of the world and from slightly different types of trees.
►Cinnamon is best known as a spice, sprinkled on toast and lattes. But extracts from the bark of the cinnamon tree have also been used traditionally as medicine throughout the world. Since ancient times.
►You've probably sprinkled cinnamon on foods like toast, rolls, and desserts. But cinnamon has uses other than for topping sweets, including improving your health.
►Naturevibe Botanicals Ceylon Cinnamon Powder comes in a resealable pouch. If you are not satisfied by the product you received, feel free to contact us as soon as possible. We guarantee to offer you help.

There is a noticeable chemical smell when the bag is opened. I used the cinnamon in my coffee with the cardamom for 2 days and convinced myself the extremely bitter taste was coming from cardamom as a new addition. I typically add Ceylon cinnamon multiple times a day, to my morning coffee and to some of my meals. Ceylon versus cassia cinnamon is important to me because of the coumarin content. The description on the back of the Ceylon cinnamon appears to confuse two types of cinnamon (cassia is the most common, and cheapest, cinnamon, not Ceylon), and that is concerning. It tastes horrible, and my stomach is not a fan of something the last couple of days either.
I have no idea if the extremely poor quality of this cinnamon is due to the package leaching and affecting the taste, poor storage, or poor quality control with harvesting the cinnamon, whatever type it is. I can't use it as a food addition and I can't get a refund, so it will go in my compost.
I've used Naturevibe Botanicals off and on for the last 2 years for some of my organic bulk spices: Ceylon cinnamon, black mustard seeds, and crushed red pepper flakes. If they're out of stock (red pepper flakes) or shipping will take longer than a week, I've used a more expensive competitor. I'll be switching to paying more from another vendor going forward, as I have an extremely bad taste in my mouth and gut from this last order.
