Product Description
We’ve put a lot of thought into what makes a great Saw Plate, and the result is the Bora 542006 WTX. This Saw Plate (aka Saw Sled or Circular Saw Guide) is sturdy, easy to use, stable, and safe. With three different connecting points to your circular saw, it’s rock solid, staying straight and true, and allows you to cut with precision and confidence (which is always important at several thousand RPM).
The best part is its versatility. It can be used with our WTX Clamp Guides (and along with the Bora Rip Guide 542007), but if you already have another manufacturer’s clamp guide / straight edge, the adjustable channel will ensure a perfect fit (up to 3 ½ inches, in fact). You can also use it on any circular saw – right or left handed. This makes the WTX Saw Plate a must-have for DIY enthusiasts, woodworkers, carpenters, contractors, or anyone else who desires straight, true cuts on plywood or other sheet material.

As I noted in my original review, I am providing an update after having used this device on a project. It worked. I did like the device's ability to provide a positive straight cut when ripping a full sheet of plywood. I remain concerned that the device will not last long because of the material that it is made of. I think that if it were attached to a saw and were to fall from sawhorse height, it would shatter. I'm going to give this a half star more for the fact that it does work considerably better than trying to follow a chalk line.
I am also impressed by the fact that Lenora from Affinity Tool reached out to me after seeing my initial review. That indicates that they are paying attention and have good customer service. That is worth another half star. Lenora, in response to your query, I've modified this product now in order to make it work with my saws. I don't think there is anything your tech support folks can do for me that I haven't already done, but I appreciate your quick response and stated desire to help.
I've attached photos of the modifications I made that allowed me to use the device with my Makita saw. The straight iron strap provides some stability (less flex) to the platform and provides a straight guide to align the saw. I had to move the clamp assembly forward about an inch as it would not clear the saw motor housing with the slot provided. I replaced the spring assembly on that clamp with a set nut to hold the bolt and wingnut in place while I attach the saw. The set nut is underneath the clamp. I needed to dremel clearances on the bottom side of the platform for all the new bolt heads so that they don't interfere with the guide fence when cutting. Once all this was done, it worked fine.
Original Review:
Setting your expectations appropriately with this product with define how satisfied you are with it. The first thing is that is may not fit your saw as is "out of the box". I had to do some modifications (drilling different holes in it, some dremel work, adding some hardware to it) in order for it to work with my old Makita Worm Drive saw. This took me an hour or so to complete. I just happened to have the materials on hand to do it or it would have taken longer than that if I'd had to go to the hardware store to buy parts for it.
Second, this thing feels pretty flimsy. It's made of 3/32" (~2mm) thick plastic and it flexes more than I like my power tools to flex. I have some concerns about how it will hold up under usage. I haven't used it enough yet to form a final opinion on how well it works when cutting and will add to this review when I get there.

After Did some research, I found this looks looks like a good solution for one hand cutting, it produced some good results both on Bora official demo and other customer reviews. However, when I went to AMAZON.COM, I found tons of negative reviews for this saw plate. Most of them were talking about the saw is flimsy, doesn't running smoothly with the guide, and not fit their saws. I was really hesitate to buy it but finally I decided to give it a try.
The Accuracy:
Surprisingly, the saw plate is greater than what I expected. I used a piece of 1*6 to run a two sides ripping, and I was really happy with the result. You may check the first pic, the result is almost straight (at least I could't find out there is any gap between the plank edge and my level. At this point, I can believe the saw plate itself represents a good quality and accuracy on cutting side.
The Installation:
Installation is quite sample. The saw plate has two screws in the front and a metal plate on the left hand side to clamp your circular saw down.the metal plate is not tight and it is really hard to make it tight( I highly doubt it is going to break the plastic grove if I do so). Fortunately, even the plate is not tight, but it is tight enough to keep your circular saw away from slipping. I heard of Bora had a new version saw plate and looks like they has solved the problem on the new version; However, I have no way to get a new version in Canada, so If you could get one, go with it. The saw plate also comes with an adjustable marker that you can attached to the top right corner as your blade guide.
The Using:
after you set up everything, use the saw plate with your saw is pretty straight forward. Someone complained the saw plate is not running smoothly on the rail; I would like to say, it feel not like smooth, but you push it , you will barely feel resistant. I used a piece of paper as a shim to make some space for the saw plate to move, and it works.
The drawback:
the clamping screws in front have very sharp tips. Since my saw doesn't have and hole for adapting, the tips made some scratch dots on my saw base(check the last pic). I am really love my tools, so this is unacceptable (minus 1 star).
Overall, the saw plate is good addition to my edge guide. I encourage you to have a try one this one.
