Pros: Ok, So this product represents an amazing idea. I love the fact that there is nothing in the tank, the whole tank is evenly heated, and I don't have to reach into the tank to maintain the heater, or change the settings. When I first set up this heater, install was easy, it worked great, heated the tank well, etc. Everything I wanted out of a heater.
Cons: The temp dial on my unit doesn't seem to work. I orrigionally heated the tank to 90 degrees (before I put fish in it, on day one of cycling) then I did fine adjustments till it was a the right temp. the knob was at the lowest setting (in the 60-70 degree range) and my temp was still at 80+ degrees. The major problem happened when I cleaned my canister filter. I unplugged everything, cleaned the filter, reassembled and plugged back in, after that the heater would no longer turn on (red light didn't light up, no matter where I put the dial, it hovers around 80 degrees.) My thought is, it has been 90+ degrees air temp in my town for the last few weeks and that is why my temp is still where it should be, because it is around 80 degrees in my house. My worry is that when it cools off, so will my tank.
I contacted customer service phone number in the manual to get a warranty replacement or repair, the phone line directed me to contact them via E-mail (I guess they don't do phone customer service???)
As instructed by the phone message, I sent an e-mail to their customer service e-mail regarding the issues I've been having... I waited a day or two, and got back this e-mail as a response:
"Subject: Hydor USA Customer Service is out of the office.
I will be out of the office starting 07/23/2013 and will not return until 07/25/2013.
Hydor USA Customer Service is out of the office . We will respond to your email upon our return. Emails will be answered in the order that they are received.

Still waiting to hear about a replacement. I will update this review if and when I hear from customer support.
**UPDATE 12/11/13**
I never did hear back from customer service, however... Amazon is AMAZING, and ended up helping me out.
I found the cause of the problems with my heater to in fact be my tank, and not the heater at all. Shortly after my heater broke I figured out that my tank had a crack in it, and water had leaked out the back/bottom of the tank down the return water tube and into the heater...
I have since fixed my tank and gotten a new Hydor In-Line Heater and it has been working like a champ. Due to the issues I had in the past with heating, I decided to pair my heater with a Finnex Max-300 Digital Aquarium Heater Controller. This setup has been working GREAT! My tank temp never fluctuates. I highly recommend this setup to anybody looking to get rid of clutter in their tanks, and who would like a stable, safe, and accurate heating setup.
**Update** 2/28/14
Still running like a champ. I changed to a 5 stars from a 3 because this heater has been amazing. Combined with the Finnex Max-300 Digital Aquarium Heater Controller, this heater has kept my tank at an absolute steady temp. If your on the fence about this heater, I would say, get it. :)
NO HARDWARE. no clamps, seals, hoses, hangers, nothing. also important to note, this is for the 5/8'' THIN HOSE. the heavy duty 5/8 will not fit in the cheap plastic nuts on eat end. the thin hose has trouble squeezing in as well. i had to add metal hose clamps and zip ties b/c i was so uncertain about the hoses popping off.
thermostat and heating work fine for me. 75 gallon tank (200W is low but i have another heater that assists). room temp is 70 degrees and desired water temp is 78. i have no problems maintaining 78 with thermostat set to 78. this heater rarely comes on and when it does it doesn't stay on long at all. this is the beauty of an inline heater rather than a tube heater that's more zone-based and will run much harder.
overall, i'll take it. i'm satisfied now that it's connected and not leaking. i was irritated while i installed. if Hydor put as much time into better connectors and hardware as they put into constantly "recommending you check for leaks" in their instruction manual, it probably wouldn't have been as problematic. i couldn't help but think they must be well-aware of how easy it leaks without proper hardware that they don't ship with it.
good heater though, for now. just be prepared to bring your own supplies to make sure it doesn't leak.
will update if anything changes.

UPDATED review almost 2 months to the day. June 3rd, 2013: DEAD
noticed the water temp was lower than usual. looked at heater, no red light for heating. turned the temp up to hear the thermostat "click" and red light come on... no dice.
unplugged it for 10 minutes hoping it may just needed a reset? not a chance. plugged it back in, no life. dead dead dead, useless dead.
now to see if the manufacturer will play ball.

Works great, I put this online on my 75gal tank and set it for 78F and within 24 hours it’s reached that temperature and is holding steady. I love that it’s in line and it’s one less thing inside my aquarium which was a huge plus for me as I wanted a minimum amount of gear inside the tank.
