Romantic suspense that grabs and holds you!

I loved this book. I dove in and read straight through, it was that riveting.

I was rooting for Ford, the MMC, as well as for Meghan, the FMC. Both have made past relationship mistakes that have had lasting ramifications in their lives – and those decisions are part of the suspense that grabs and holds you through this book.

Steam? Yes, in a 5-chili pepper dose.
Suspense and action – 5 stars.
Twists? Yes – 4 stars.
And… 5 stars for having characters that I want to read about, again in future books.

I see this is going to be a series… yay! I have already picked out the friends and family members “I” want to see more of.

For Meghan and Ford –they are “not young” but oh, how they prove that age is only a number as they more than set the world on fire, in the action and in the sheets. I appreciate that Ms. Fiala gives us these interesting characters that come from life experience (and a little personal growth through adversity).

I’ll be looking for more of her work. So far, every single book of hers has been a strong, well-written, and end-to-end romantic suspense. Highly recommend.

Book 1 of the Big 3 Security series. Romantic suspense.
Ford has been searching for the escaped felon that burned down his parents home for a long time. He finds Megan, the ex wife of the felon, working as a waitress at a diner. When her house explodes, Ford is determined to protect her.

I loved that these are slightly older characters in their 40’s. Megan has been harassed and threatened but stays strong and self reliant. I think Ford was a little to self centered at times but the chemistry between Ford and Megan was quick (maybe a little too soon but tense situations) and strong. There are multiple consensual sex scenes that are explosively steamy.
There are a couple of questions that I’m hoping will get answered in the next series book.
Good suspense and emotion.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Troy Duran and Rose Dioro. Each had their own chapters and did both voices from their POV. They did a fantastic job with emotions and voice nuance. I listened to most of this book at 1.2 for the best conversational speed to my ear.

For those long time readers of the author, you will recall this story from the author’s series Bounty Hunters which have been renamed. That said, they are just as good the second time around.
This story introduces the Lynyrd Station Protectors and belongs to former Army Ranger Ford Montgomery and former nurse now diner waitress, Megan Marshall.
While Ford is determined to take down the arsonist that killed his parents, Megan is determined to stay away from her ex, a killer.
Thought the sparks are evident between these two, they have both been hurt in the past.
Will Ford be able to find closure and still survive the evil surrounding them? If they do survive, will Ford and Meghan give love a chance?
Another well written and engaging story by this all time favorite author.

This is the first book in PJ Fiala’s Big 3 Security series.

I love that Ford & Megan are in their 40s and the balance of suspense and romance was nice, but definitely leaned heavier on the romance. The blurb made me think there’d be more action than the story delivered. This is best when you’re in the mood for instalove.

There's a forced proximity which means the Ford & Megan have a lot of time to get to know each other. Even though the story only lasted a few days - it was obvious they were a great fit beyond just sex & physical attraction. The ending was kind of meandering, but sweet.

Narration:
I enjoyed Troy Duran and Rose Dioro’s performances. They were a great fit for the characters and easy to listen to.

While I own the ebook, I did receive a copy of the audio via StoryOrigin and am leaving an honest review.

Things keep pretty hot between them as they search all over for the killer of his parents. A great start to the series. I read a free copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it. Ford is determined to locate the man responsible for the death of his parents and he believes that questioning the ex-wife of the man’s cousin will get him the answers he needs. He wasn’t expecting the danger that Megan was in due to her ex’s illegal and questionable choices.

Megan wants nothing to do with her ex as he had gotten her in trouble with the law in the past. She wants nothing to do with either Ford or Marcus, the other man who is looking for her ex, however when she finds herself in danger there is no one better to have by her side than Ford.

Both Ford and Megan have been burned by love in the past but when circumstances throw them together, they bring out the best in each other as they find themselves fighting for justice and each other. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as it brought out the protector in Ford and the resilience of Megan as they face every challenge life throws at them.
