The finale of Brad and Daphne’s story was one of the most difficult endings to read and interpret. Helen engulfs the reader into the story as usual, not allowing you to put it down until complete. But, there were so many twists and turns throughout the series with everything becoming exposed at the end and for me, more questions.
Brad Steel is a fortunate man to have met such a loving, sweet woman with Daphne Wade. She is the epitome of perfection, definitely undeserving of treatment from her husband. There are so many questions still left unanswered, mainly why he put her through so much?? At the beginning of the series, I fell in love with Brad’s devotion to his family only to find out everything was not what it appeared to be. Like the old saying goes, everything that glitters isn’t gold.
Daphne Wade has gone through so much turmoil, so much pain yet still able to be such an amazing, loving wife and devoted mother to her children. Unfortunately for her, her illness induced by tragedy will eventually overwhelm her. She deserved so much more than what she received from her “loving” husband but Brad was the worst of the Future Lawmakers of America, just unaware of how bad his actions were nor the ending effect.
Prepare yourself for an emotionally packed ending to the story of Brad and Daphne as their story comes full circle with the mystery finally revealed. Descent is an emotionally charged story that has been well written to satisfy the readers. Make sure you keep a box of tissues close by because you will not be able to keep the tears from flowing.

Love Even After Death
Helen Hardt has once again done a marvelous job on keeping me on the edge of my seat while reading "Descent". My heart went out to Brad and Daphne as their lives unfolded through Brad's reminiscing through his past while in prison. The harshness of his oldest son was a little hard for me to swollow but I knew that the story would not be the same if Jonah's heart wasn't so cold towards his father.I was reading the very last page while picking up food through a drive through. I gave the cashier my card and excepted the food, drove across the street and pulled into a empty parking lot...and just bawled like a baby. I was able to keep myself together until that point, but it was so real and heart rinching, that even after death Daphne still loved Brad so much to come to him and take him with her...a true testiment that love can still go forward beyond the grave.
