The newest romance from New York Times bestselling, Audie Award winning author Kylie Scott!

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having her life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a re-match made in Hollywood?

Norah, my hero.
5 Stars
Norah, my hero.
I've done a lot of reading in my time. Suspense, mystery, thriller, crime and romance. So it's safe to say that I've come across a lot of characters. Some I liked, some I didn't. Some I wanted to throw my Kindle at and some that made me want to hug my Kindle.Fake is one of those that made me want to hug my Kindle. Why?Well Norah and Patrick were written as grown ups. Norah especially. Of all the couples I've read in books I think this is the first time ever that I crushed more on the heroine than the hero.Norah was no nonsense, she means what she says and says what she means.Patrick also was there to oblige her. He needed someone like Norah to always tell what she is feeling and vise versa. Also, Kylie has the ability to make you fall for the side characters. In Fake is was all about Paddy and Norah. Sure, there were some great side characters, but they didn't steal the show.Thank you Kylie, you wrote about a couple who in other worlds would of kept us frustrated with kept secrets and insecurities. But instead we got a grown up couple who didn't need all that drama to be a super couple.

While a very small part of me knows that Fake was more like a fairytale, a very large part of me couldn't help but think ... wouldn't it be lovely if all heroes could look like this cover model, and act like Prince Charming?

I am a sucker for my book heroes to be almost perfect. Good looks, money, a fabulous career, and a loving family made Paddy almost perfect. I think it really shows the authors talent when she can make a fairytale hero seem like a normal bloke, vulnerabilities and all. In Paddy, we meet a man who has been plunged into every actor's nightmare ... bad publicity. Between Paddy and his agent, they are on a mission to change public opinion. If it means being in a fake relationship, Paddy is willing to go there. If only he could find a woman willing to do the job...with conditions.

Norah was an awesome heroine and I absolutely loved that she was determined to keep her heart out of the business relationship she started with the very, very gorgeous Paddy. She couldn't believe the superstar even considered her for the job of his fake girlfriend. This job will set her and her grandmother up financially and may even help her find some direction for her life. This is her chance to find a new path and keep her beloved grandmother in the care she needs. The challenge will be to remember that it's only a job and the beautiful man she's living with doesn't want to keep her.

I loved the way this story developed and I surprisingly never once rolled my eyes. Sure, we're talking about Hollywood and the lives of the rich and famous, but Paddy was mostly a nice guy. He did have a public 'face' that could melt your panties, but when he was at home, he mostly was just a normal bloke. I wasn't expected to believe that Norah and Paddy took one look at each other and instantly fell in love. Their relationship developed over time and they genuinely liked each other before they even contemplated becoming intimate.

My absolute favourite part of Fake was that Norah wasn't willing to be arm candy for Paddy, and wanted her own career. I also absolutely loved that Paddy made the right decision when it came to where his priorities were.

While some things were a little predictable, the characters were developed enough to make this story their own without it feeling too cliche. There was a strength in Norah that was admirable and her ability to make sure she wasn't taken advantage of, definitely made her likeable. There was drama and angst but it was never over the top and was dealt with quickly by a sensible conversation and honesty. The sexy times were hot and the declarations were perfectly executed. I had all the shakes and shiveries I want in my romance reads.

I really enjoyed this West Hollywood romance and I will definitely be looking forward to more in the future. If you haven't tried a Kylie Scott romance, you can't go wrong with trying this Fake. ;-)

“Just in case this all goes to he!! and I say the wrong thing and you never want to talk to me again. I enjoyed every moment with you.”

While looking for an audiobook to read, I found Fake by Kylie Scott in my library and realized I bought it on release day (or pre-ordered it) and never listened to it! I have really enjoyed the other books I have read by her, so I jumped right into Fake.

And Fake jumped right into the story. The meat of the story started quickly, the moment the book begins. There was not really any scene-setting or meeting the characters, but it totally worked here. We meet Norah, a curvy waitress who is supporting herself and paying for her grandmother’s care. She has served the movie star, Patrick, several times, and though she internally fangirls, she never shows it on the outside. When Patrick is involved in a scandal featuring his best friend’s wife, he needs to change his image and have a regular girlfriend. Or a fake one.

They have interviewed many candidates, but Patrick can’t imagine spending that much time with any of them. So when he is out to lunch with his publicist(?) and Norah serves him, he decides that she would be perfect for the part, because she is genuine and doesn’t swoon over him. While it’s not something Norah would normally do, the job would pay for her beloved gran to move into a much better home, which would make it all worth it.

I loved this drama and angst-free read! It’s a cinderella story that appeals to most women. It was quick, light and easy and the characters were all very likable.

Likes:
•I loved how Norah was just a regular girl.
•Told from only her POV. I like that for a change!
•It was a quick and easy read.
•I really loved all of the characters.
•The slow-burn build-up.

Dislikes:
•It ended abruptly.
•It felt very novella-like. It didn’t have a lot of meat to it.

The Narration:
And Arndt did a great job with this one! She always does, but I wasn’t sure she would fit this character as much. I needn’t have worried, she was fantastic, and I highly recommend the audiobook version of the story.

The Down & Dirty:
Fake by Kylie Scott may not be the most memorable read, but it is a perfect sweet and light story to check out between heavier books. It is a low-angst, every woman’s fantasy Cinderella story, and I hope to read more in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars SATISFYING STORY!
Reviewed in Canada on September 18, 2023
Only in romance novels! This is such a cliché storyline but this author has made it work. That is what writing is all about and whether a nanny, babysitter or girl next door, if you have a good author it works. All the characters were good too. No nonsense women like Gran and granddaughter Norah as well as Mei.

I really loved this a lot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best fake relationship ever turning into a real one
Reviewed in Germany on June 1, 2021
Fake, just let's fake a relationship to improve the Hollywood star reputation. You're in?

That's what happened to Norah when she was waitressing Hollywood star Patrick Walsh.

Everything seemed more than pleasant and she just said yes.

But what started as a fake relationship becomes more than real. 'Cause you can't control how you feel.

Opinion:
The relationship between Norah and Patrick just developed quite realistic. Norah is straight to earth and realized real quick that her five minutes of fame might be prejudicial for her further life but she's also loyal to all her beloved and to Patrick. Patrick realized by time that fame isn't everything and the real Problem by being an actor. He loves his job but now he knows that it will never be everything.

Conclusion:
I love this story and it was a page turner after all. I couldn't stop reading. Norah and Patrick have this amazing chemistry that blows everything away. A love like a fairytale.
