About this item
- Polyester
- Made in the USA or Imported
- The Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree sleeping bag is ideal for 3-season backpacking and camping. Water-resistant down insulation and an array of features make this sleeping bag a great combination of value and comfort.
- This sleeping bag is insulated with 600-fill DriDown. Renowned for efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, down has an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and continues to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation.
- Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry longer and dries faster.
- A draft tube behind the 60" two-way locking anti-snag zipper and an insulated hood enhance the thermal efficiency of the Cosmic 20 Degree bag.
- A polyester taffeta liner provides internal comfort. Other features include a small pocket to keep electronics handy and a naturally-shaped foot box.

Product Description
Simply put, Dridown represents the evolution of down insulation. Regular down is treated with a molecular-level polymer to create a hydrophobic finish on each individual down plume. This finish allows Drawdown to stay dry longer, loft better, and dry faster than regular down, keeping you warmer in any environment.

It fit perfectly in my pack, and the 300 dollars I saved buying this one over one that is a pound lighter was able to be spent on a good pad/pillow set up and a lighter tent.
Edited review here, and old review in its entirety below:
Everything below remains true, HOWEVER the zipper totally exploded. It has a tendency to get snagged, and one side of the zipper teeth was sort of kinked after I managed to work the zipper free from a snag in the middle of the night. When I pulled the zipper up again, it came free from the kinked side, completely - and when I tried to work the zipper down to the base and re-insert it, it totally fell off and there's no conceivable way to get it back on now. I don't know what to do - send it back to Kelty? It's really frustrating.
Old title: Good value for a quality bag, with a couple caveats
For the money, this Kelty Cosmic bag is great. It's lightweight, compresses down to the size of a large honeydew melon (I got a separate compression sack to pack it into) and warm(ish). Don't expect to stay warm in this bag at 20F - I found 30-35F about the coldest I'm willing to sleep in this bag, and that's with wearing base layers and a beanie. I'm also skinny and don't carry a lot of body fat - so as with all things, your mileage may vary.
One thing I find mystifying about this Kelty bag is the density of the nylons chosen for the interior and exterior. The interior is 50D, and the exterior is 20D. Therefore, it's the exterior that is extremely soft, thin, and smooth. The interior feels thicker, less soft, and tougher, and you can feel every stitch with bare feet. WHY isn't the interior 20D and the exterior 50D? Wouldn't most people want the softer fabric on the inside, and the tougher fabric on the outside? Softer/thinner fabric = more prone to tears and rips. On the outside. Can anyone explain this?
It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
The reason I bought this is because I wanted something I could use in my hammock as a quilt and still have a sleeping bag. It functions well as both.
I've only given it 4 stars for the moment because I haven't truly tested the performance of it quite yet and plan on updating this review with further thoughts once I use it properly.
Now, I dont come across many perfect things in my life and this is not one of them. It has some slight, VERY slight issues that MAY bother others: the zipper tends to be a little annoying when zipped down all the way, it's a little annoying (not hard) to get it zipping again, but once it's started it's great (simple solution: just don't unzip it ALL THE WAY... problem solved). Second thing that may bother someone (this is also my first mummy style bag so I'm not sure if most are like this) is that the hood doesn't cinch tight around your face unless you have a giant head (could be a perfect fit for my girlfriend) HOWEVER, this is far from a deal breaker.
In conclusion for the moment, I highly recommend this to anyone who is considering buying this for their first bag based on first impressions. I do not expect it to be super toasty at 20 degrees but I don't plan on really being out when it's that cold anyway. Here in arkansas it's only that cold for about a month at night anyway. The price is great as well so it's worth a shot at least, worst case scenario is that you return it

Although it's not exceptional in any particular aspect, it provides decent comfort and warmth in a package that is small and light enough for some 3-season backpacking.
The Cosmic might still be worth considering if low cost and packability are the most important characteristics for your needs.
