The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion cordless portable band saw (model XBP03Z, Tool only) delivers cordless metal cutting power to the jobsite. The XBP03Z has a Makita-built high torque motor and a compact design with less weight for a range of cutting applications in a variety of metal materials. The XBP03Z is engineered for a range of Metal-Cutting tasks, Ideal for any electrical, HVAC, installation, metal building, metal fabrication, plumbing, and any Pro Contractor who requires a best-in-class engineered cordless portable band saw. The XBP03Z features a Makita-built high torque motor 630 ft. /min. Blade speed for faster cutting and a 2-1/2" Cutting capacity is ideal for cutting conduit, unistrut , all thread, channel, corrugated, pipe, sheet metal, square tubing, and more. The adjustable foot protects material and provides positive support for more accurate cuts. The XBP03Z weighs just 9 lbs. (With battery, sold separately) with a more compact design at 18-3/4” long and an ergonomic shape that fits like a glove for reduced operator fatigue. The XBP03Z is also equipped with a built in L. E. D. Light that illuminates the work area for more efficient work, as well as rubber bumpers and a removable hook. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls . Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol on the battery indicating Star protection inside.

I’m a 20year unlimited journeyman Electrician. this bandsaw slices and dices strut and conduit like butter.. battery life is very good I've been using 3 and 5 amp hour batteries. I’ve never thrown a blade. everyone of the guys at the shop were impressed with it. I’ve put my corded Milwaukee in storage.

I've been happy with it for cutting EMT. Batteries last way longer than cutting the same pipe with a sawzall. It's also a lot quieter. The Hook for hanging it on your cart it whatever works great. It's designed for hanging it from a square object. In my opinion it's better than the hook on dewalt bandsaws.
The cover over the blade area is the weak spot. It's plastic and doesn't look like it would stand a lot. (Mine is still perfectly intact)

I had looked at full-size cordless bandsaw’s for years but they cost a lot and they weigh a lot. When Makita brought out this compact lightweight model I knew it would work for me (I’m an electrical contractor).

Cuts are very fast and the salt is easy to operate with one hand. We often work from ladders and safety requires that both feet and one hand be on the ladder at all times leaving only one hand to operate a tool.

Blade changes are fast and easy and the saw has a built-in light that illuminates the area being cut. When you first pick the tool up it weighs so little that you might think it isn’t capable of doing much. But in fact the small weight keeps the operator from getting tired as quickly as when using a larger tool.

We’ve only been using this tool for about a month but if it’s like every other Makita tool we own it will last a long time and provide great value for the money.

Wish I bought this ages ago. Handed it to my head guy and got this why look, after the first cut he looked like a kid meeting Santa Clause for the first time. I used it a few days latter myself and felt like it was Christmas Morning.

Will see how it does over time, hopefully saves me a lot in sawzall blades and labor time. Plan on buying a second one before the next project starts.

11/19/2020 Have had two for a while now, buying third today. Cuts 2" emt clean, 2 1/2" I have to spin the pipe as I cut. Just bought its big brother for cutting larger conduit.
