One of my favorite pieces of equipment...so easy to use and affordable. It does a great job, but burns batteries like a son-of-a-gun with phantom power...on just one mic. You should have many batteries with you if you plan to phantom power all four inputs on battery power. But you can plug it into an iPad charger or something similar and it will power it for recording just fine. You could also use a battery pack like a PowerBank (they even have solar ones now) and run it that way if you had a longer location shoot.

Though I don't use them, the built in mics are really impressive as well.

This device has pretty much every feature I'd want in a portable audio recorder...and it works very well.

I really like this recorder. Mounted it under my Nikon 5500, connected two shotgun mics to it. The 3.5 mm cable connected the DR-70D to my Nikon without issue. Recorded 14 ten minute interviews and all went well. For the price I would highly recommend.

It is a great deal that comes with a bunch of gifts including a 3.5mm to 3.5mm mini coiled cable, a free battery charger that includes 4 AA (NiMH) rechargeable batteries, plus a 32G SD card. The firmware is NOT up-to-date when it arrived. It works excellent with my USB battery (power bank) on the initial test. The SANDISK ULTRA Class 10 SD card that comes with it does not work properly after the latest firmware update was installed. I switched back to a 16G SD card and it works fine.
