Love to Hate You: An Enemies to Lovers, Best Friend's Brother Romantic Comedy (The Fillmores Book 2) Kindle Edition
I'm taking a stand. I'm done with him, our show, and my stupid heart. I want nothing else to do with Travis Fillmore. Or maybe I'm lying.
No, really.
Ugh, I need help when even I don't believe me.
Travis is my best friend’s brother and the object of my infatuation. He’s also my co-host for our home improvement show, and we are zooming to the top right now. Unfortunately, I can’t work with him anymore. He’s pushed me too far with his antics, and I’m walking away. Only, he just realized how much he needs me on the show, and he wants me back. He just pops into town and thinks I’ll forgive and forget.
At first, I refuse to even consider returning, but he won’t go away. He tells me that he’s changed, that he can be professional. And I believe him. Until he kisses me…and then does a whole lot more. Soon, we can’t keep our hands off each other. But even as I think we might be building something beautiful, someone threatens our happiness. An overzealous stalker…I can deal with that. What scares me is the man who could shatter my heart and leave me broken.
Warning: This book includes breaking and entering, donuts, sarcastic friends, a woman with many trust issues, a man who doesn’t realize what he wants until he almost loses it, a weirdo who doesn’t understand boundaries, nosey neighbors, a trip to the Juniper Jail again, and a happily ever after for two people who finally admit they are in love.

About the author
Born to an Air Force family at an Army hospital, USA TODAY Bestselling author Melissa Schroeder has always been a little bit screwy. She was further warped by her years of watching Monty Python and her strange family. Her love of romance novels developed after accidentally picking up a Linda Howard book. From then on, she was hooked. She read close to 300 novels in one year and decided romance was her true calling instead of the literary short stories and suspense stories she had been writing. After many attempts, she realized that romantic comedy, or at least romance with a comedic edge, was where she was destined to be.
Influences in her writing come from Nora Roberts, Jenny Crusie, Susan Andersen, Amanda Quick, Jayne Anne Krentz, Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, and Lori Foster. Since her first release in 2004, Melissa has written close to thirty short stories, novellas and novels released with seven different publishers in a variety of genres and time periods. Those releases included a 2005 Eppie Finalist, Two Capa finalists, and an International ebook best seller in June of 2005. Surrender was named top Category Romance by Authors After Dark, and she was named Author of the Year and Most Accessible Author.
Since she was a military brat, she vowed never to marry military. Alas, fate always has her way with mortals. Her husband is an Air Force major, and together they have their own military brats, two girls, and an adopted dog-daughter. They live wherever the military sticks them, which, she is sure, will always involve heat and bugs only seen on the Animal Discovery Channel. In her spare time, she reads, complains about bugs, travels, cooks, reads some more, watches her DVD collections of Arrested Development and Seinfeld, and tries to convince her family that she truly is a delicate genius. She has yet to achieve her last goal.
She has always believed that romance and humor go hand in hand. Love can conquer all and as Mark Twain said, "Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand." Combining the two, she hopes she gives her readers a thrilling love story, filled with chuckles along the way, and a happily ever after.

This is book 2 in The Fillmores series and it features Travis Fillmore and Nancy Howard. He was really horrible to her. I guess it’s just as true now as it was in elementary school. When a boy likes you, he’s mean to you. You will enjoy Travis’ steamy journey to convincing Nancy that he truly loves her and wants to keep her safe from a nefarious stalker.
This is a sweet, sexy and fun best friends to lovers romance. I love the little town of Juniper, Texas and it’s occupants. The LOL‘s are pretty great too! I love that we got to spend so much time with Syd and Grady. I’m looking forward to whatever this fantastic author comes out with next.
Now on to the heart of the story and Syd plus the entire town of their Juniper friends playing matchmaker and seeing what was blind to each of them. That was epic and Travis fight its himself and his worth grabbed at my heart. Protect it all because you cannot see that person not in your life at all. That was the code he lived by and upheld it from when the mess hit the fan.
Thank you Melissa for another good book and I am happy the Fillmore siblings got their happy ending.
Can't wait for the Hawthornes to fall as well as the twins.
All that being said, I did like the way Nancy didn't cave to her family's pressure. I liked that she acknowledged the fact that Travis treated her like crap and didn't try to make excuses for him. I also liked that although Travis did treat Nancy badly, he made the effort to figure out why, acknowledge, and apologize for his behavior.
The last third of the book picked up for me. I think if they hadn't spent so much time being in their own heads, and not communicating, I would have liked it better. Then again, it may just be me. Any book with prolonged confusion and lack of communication irritates me.
There were some funny moments, most having to do with Grady, Syd, and/or Carter. Eventually, Travis and Nancy reach their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
Travis’ head gets big and his attitude goes right along with it. Nancy has had it with the crap and quits the show. Only too late does Travis realize what the bigger picture of it all is, and set with a new determination not only to get his co host back but prove that she was so much more than that all along. The old saying goes “You don’t know what you got until it’s gone”, until you have a sister who is not afraid to kick you in the behind to make you realize it’s not gone but groveling will be necessary.
Nancy and Travis have a solid friendship and along the way it turns into so much more. Denial can only get you so far until you realize you might have just missed out on it all. Their bickering and dancing around one another is just a slow burn that is bound to explode. And they surely do. As they begin to acknowledge their feelings for one another Nancy discovers a stalker on her tail. And with that one thing, everything for Nancy and Travis changes. They may be watching over their shoulders but they know their feelings for one another are genuine, true and completely mutual. I loved visiting Juniper Springs and it’s corky town folks. The LOL are a riot. In its own weird way it felt like a home away from home. Ms. Schroeder gives readers an entertaining and slow burn romance with Love to Hate You. Well developed characters with charismatic personalities along with a fun setting, an entertaining plot line and some steamy romance more than make Love to Hate You a more than enjoyable read.
