The peices are very thick cardboard, brightly colored and very visually interesting. The rules of game play are simple and easy to explain, as you would expect from a children's game. Play takes about 10-15 minutes on average and again, this is not a game that will make you crazy over time (such as candyland or chutes and ladders.)
It's one of our favorite games to give as gifts for 3-5 year olds, and a wonderful way to introduce board games to the toddler set. I also highly recommend "Feed the Kitty" for this age group and "Rat a Tat Cat" for the slightly older crowd. We are a serious gaming family (lots of German board games here) and don't find any of those to be particularly insanity inducing- long after candyland was stashed in the attic.
This game is a lot like dominoes in matching, but instead of matching number of dots, it is color, which is great for very young children.
The cards are very thick and durable, which is also great for the little ones.
You build snakes by matching a head and least one middle section and a tail. If you are the one who completes a snake you keep it and whoever has the most cards at the end wins.
This is a simple and fun game, easy to play and learn. It also does not take a long time to play which is a plus for those with young children.
This game if definitely a winner!
Color matching, building the longest snake, and building the most snakes which you must then count are some of the ways we've tried to play this game with our grandson. At two years old, he isn't quite ready to sit still and play a game, but I am a firm believer that starting card and board games early-on is a good thing. In addition to honing thinking skills, game-playing teaches social skills, face-to-face interaction, and taking turns which are important skills for little ones to acquire. I also select games that are recommended for an age range that is a bit older than the child receiving the game. This encourages parents or older siblings to "help" the little one learn the game and to play it, too.
Hiss is a game that you will enjoy playing. It is a game to play on the floor and one that everyone can have fun doing.
So much fun, but over super super fast.
