I am a 7.5 so I contemplated for the longest time between 7 and 8 and I’m so glad I went with the 7. They are even a tiny bit big but will be perfect with insoles. An 8 would have been huge on me. If you are a half size definitely size down! They are a little shinier than I’d like but they are so pretty it’s ok. I haven't worn them yet so I can’t speak on comfort, but they look and feel beautiful.

I have been told the brand needs a break in period, but mine were comfortable the first time. They weight of the heel makes it feel a little clunkier than normal soles.

It just feels a little snug. The rest of the shoe is pretty loose-fitting. (But I prefer my shoes to be a little loose, so I’m unbothered by that) if you don’t like loose fitting shoes, I’d say size down. I have other doc martens, and all of them are a size 5 UK,(7 US) and fit fine, I think these just run a little large. (PS: don’t second-guess buying these shoes! The first store I went to wearing them, I got so many compliments, and they go with so many outfits!)
